Should Riot add Turret Plating to Twisted Treeline?

3v3 games are normally quite short, often half the duration of games on the rift. One of the reasons that the mode is often considered 'unbalanced' is because of the relatively smaller meta of viable champions which can be considered 'carries'.

One solution to prevent the early stomp would be to add the new Turret Plating system to Twisted Treeline, ensuring that each game is a little more balanced and its not a mad dash for Vilemaw by 20 minutes to close out the game after taking the outer turrets.

I'm not an expert league player, this just seems like a sensible move to me, what's everyone else's thoughts?

Well Twisted Treeline should be updated. New map, updated graphics, and then add the turret plating.

Twisted Treeline needs a whole lot more than just turret plating.

Nah. Turrets on sr are useless pieces of shit. They needed something to help them. Turrets on tt are dota-tier and will fuck you up. Lol. Not super relevant, but sr games are so short nowadays that, in my games at least, the time it takes to finish an sr or tt game is comparable.

How did no body think of this wtf.

I'd be surprised if Riot even remembers that Twisted Treeline exists.

With how fast the game already is, wouldnt that just punish champions that can't get lane control out of the game even more?

What about ARAM?

Doesn’t really make sense considering turrets are supposed to be a lot easier to take down in TT.

It's an interesting thought but here is why I don't believe it would change much.

Turret plating is to make the tower harder to take down and to by doing so theoretically extend laning phase.

With regards to taking down turrets its all ready tricky to get a turret because a) short respawn timers and shorter lane length means early on you get back to lane fairly quickly and can defend your tower. Generally if someone pushes in a lane they will roam into the enemy jungle or bot to pressure. Sticking around at turret for a few autos isn't worth it usually plus it opens you up to a gank by the enemy jungle. B) laning phase in TT I feel is pretty long already, in that towers don't fall quickly. Games can be over at 15 min because of rotations and invades getting kills, scenarios where the towers don't play a part at all.

That being said it would be cool as heck to get some new stuff on TT.

Edit. A positive point for the plating is the incrimental gold that you get for taking the plating off. It smooths out the gold income from taking a tower compared to how its paid out now (all at once) so if the enemy takes a tower they don't suddenly spike in income. It also rewards staying in lane to chip that next level of plating off which relieves pressure on the rest of the map. That would likely be very good for the overall health of the ealry game. Gives hard pushing champs something to do other than harass under tower or rotate into the jungle.

at this point twisted treeline needs a major overhaul, just throwing in turret plating and then leaving it alone for another year ain't going to help

Not if it's going to give the enemy team gold. A large part of the issue is that the jungle is too simple and easy to clear, and the 10% ms boost from alters should probably just be removed. It just makes combacks even more difficult to achieve when the winning team has a gold advantage on top of moving faster than the opponents. There are too many win-more mechanics that need to be toned down or removed.

Both the jungle and the map layout need to reworked to be less punishing for champions with weaker early-mid games. If the enemy is over-extended, they should be punished for it, which is very difficult to achieve if said team has both alters captured. I honestly think the alters and health relic should be replaced with jungle camps/buffs, like the old map.

Maps specific balancing would also help for champions that are relatively balanced on the Rift but are overbearing and ruin games on 3v3 no matter who is playing them. If Riot never plans on making games less snowball-heavy, then they could at least move the ff timer down to 10 minutes, because honestly most games are decided by the point.
