Exhaust's damage, AS and MS reduction is WAY stronger than Smite will ever be

I used to try out smite on Soraka, because trailblazer gives sustain and emergency waveclear as well as dragon control and cheap (support!) stats.

But ultimately it just causes you to loose, because teammates refuse to play with you. I had people go afk after spawn even two in one game, just because I had smite on Soraka. They even told me "not playing with a troll, will report you!"

Which do you prefer on supports AFTER you tried this method? [ ] Smite [ ] Exhaust [x] Ignite

not going to work they are changing stalkers next patch

If you ever grab smite instead of exhaust as Thresh, you don't know what you're doing. The fact that you have to build a jungling item just to get the slow on smite is in itself enough to make it stupid on supports.

in lane the smite is great but after that it is bad

Thank you everyone for your votes! It is looking like the majority prefers exhaust. I totally agree! Still try smite in normal's though! It's fun!

If you guys think smite is pointless in laning watch this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jCLFesEOEQY

I was going to play Skarner in a game with dome friends when one of them offered to trade, trading back and for teh lols being a common thing I accepted the trade for Janna, after discovering he wasn't trading back I had 5 seconds to switch everything over to support. During this process I failed to switch summoner 11 forsummoner 3 and instead switched summoner 4 for summoner 3. All I can say is that after getting item 3706 and item 3116, I had so many slows flash would have been uneccasary.

Chilling Smite, with its relatively short cooldown and all-phases-of-the-game utility, is one of those things I think are possible. And an ADC with Challenging Smite? Ha. Haha. Yeah, for quite the small sum of 350 or so extra gold after the start, they can be quite nice.

No one said you couldn't bring both Exhaust and Chilling Smite. If Flash is optional on anyone at all, it's the Support role.

I didn't think you could have multiple Income items.

Depending on who I face in lane, I usually go with ignite. I prefer it a lot better, especially if they have someone like a nami or soraka support, to deny the healing done to the adc while we are focusing him. Smite can be useful, but to waste an item as well on it in my opinion is not that good. You don't need to slow them to land a hook on them. You could just as easily flay then to slow, or just hook like madlife :)

There is also always the choice of taking smite AND exhaust! You item 2043 what i'm saying? I'm not a Trundle. :)

I like the idea overall, a lot of people don't seem to notice the rise of burst AD carries right now. Hence the popularity of Graves sky-rocketing.

By the time you get the exhaust down on an AD carry that relies on burst, chances are its going to be too late, they will have done a good chunk of their main damage already. Obviously its going to be a situational thing, but it definitely can work in place of exhaust if the need for it rises.

I've thought about this for a while. There's definite merit to the idea. My issue right now is the towers. I've begun to favor teleport so I can maintain a constant presence; especially in yolo queue. Since it takes no time at all to drop a tower any more and the new lasers DPS for the first few seconds is laughable (even Fiora is tanking towers now).

Depends on the comp. If I need that exhaust to save my jinx from their Kat, there's no way in hell I'm getting smite.

If my Blue Ez can help peel for himself, I'll consider smite for better objective control.

Videos would be great! If you have footage of any support with smite, please post the video(s) below! Thanks for all the feedback that has been given!
