LP Gains are absolutely broken (potentially b/c of Positional Ranking?)
To preface this, I was gold 3 last season. I was a Yorick one trick with +70% winrate in mid gold when they hard nerfed Yorick while simultaneously buffing the fuck out of minions which doubly nerfed him because of how important the ghoul to minion strength ratio is for him in lane. Point being, I stopped playing him after that and just kind of dicked around the rest of the season. Finished gold 4. Meh.
That brings me to this season-- I had a very rough placement series for top; finished 2-6. I had legitimate inters (0/15/4 style) in nearly every game. But that's whatever, I figured I'll just climb quickly once that fluke of a few games is over. I finally have my baby Yorick back and he's stronger than ever (probably needs a nerf).
Here's the problem, though: after finishing placements, I shit-stomped my first game. Got 22 LP. Went on to shit-stomp 10 more games in a row, but I'm still getting 22 LP (21 for the 9th game). It seems LP gains aren't fluctuating at all to allow me to quickly carry myself up to my actual rank. I'm literally forced to sit here and shit on silvers, which is entirely unfair for them and not enjoyable at all for me.
In prior seasons, running over games this hard one after another, my LP would adjust quickly (like after 3 or 4 games in a row either way, win or loss). This season it's not. It seems the likely cause would be positional matchmaking? Did they nerf how quickly you can get your MMR up?
Is anyone else experiencing this same thing after a worse-than-expected placement series? I'd love to hear thoughts.
Obviously I know it's still early and an 11 game winstreak isn't that crazy but c'mon. Show some signs of adjustment.
