Champion Matery

Do you guys think they should add special rewards for mastering champs, ex icon, border, skin? I think it would be really cool if they added something like this and also think their should be some exclusive skin that you can only get by mastering all the champs or something like that.

The ability to set the champion square as your summoner icon would be easy to implement and feel like a pretty cool reward.

Honestly, I think that skins would be a substantial amount of work for Riot and they would most likely not do it because they could be doing more productive things with their time that would bring in money. Adding skins as rewards for mastery would not bring in [much] profit. (I say that because it would be unlikely for League to get more players solely based on that fact, and more players would mean more money.) I also don't want them spending a ton of time working on 127 skins and I'd rather them just keep putting out skins and updating old ones than even begin that massive project. For borders, I'm assuming you mean something like what the PROJECT skins have; a border within your ranking border. It would be nice, but considering the fact that we already have the mastery banner for loading screen, I don't think it's really necessary. Icons I think would be the most feasible thing for Riot to implement, but... I don't like the idea of those either. I think we already have an absolutely huge amount of icons already in the game and considering the icon selection window's small size, it would be an absolute pain to navigate once you start getting high mastery on multiple champs. Also, I think that the addition of all those new icons would devalue the old icons that we have. The more icons that we have, the less special that each icon becomes. I really don't mean to put you down or anything like that, I just want to express my opinion on the topic.

I don't want a skin for every champ I want one really cool exclusive skin that you can only get by mastering every champ. The borders would be like every 5 or 10 champs that you master so it wouldn't pollute the game

Your skin idea is a lot more reasonable to me now, but what do you mean by mastering every champion? Getting level five on every champion? Getting level seven (should it ever be implemented) on every champion? Getting a specific amount of mastery score? I personally think that it would be extremely unreasonable to make a player get level five on more than fifty champions. I'm sitting at fifteen level five champions and six level fours, and I've been working my butt off to get them to high levels of mastery. It's taken me an extremely long amount of time (in my opinion) to get just those champions to their levels, and I honestly couldn't fathom the amount of work it would take to get every single other champion to level 5. Also, I'm still not with you fully on the skin idea. I like how the mastery thing is more of a "fun" thing and not a competitive thing, and having a skin as a reward would instantly change the mastery system to a much more competitive one since people would be grinding to get the skin and the champion that came with it. Like, banners and kill emotes aren't things that we as players see worth money, whereas a skin is worth money to most players. I think that introducing a skin reward would change the whole atmosphere of the mastery system, and I don't like that. I'd rather keep the mastery system a thing that only means something if you want it to, and adding a skin reward (or any sort of reward that could be seen as monetary in value, like icons) would change that attitude. I'm still not with you on the border either though. Even though I think it would be most suitable for the mastery system as a reward, I don't think that it's necessary considering that we already have a mastery indicator on the loading screen and the loading screen can get extremely cluttered. I don't think we need to clutter it up more with another border, considering that we can have a ranked border, ribbon, card border, and mastery banner all on a single champion's card.

You also have a lot of valid points, but I personally enjoy mastering champs I think I have about 33 to level 5 right now. I can also see how putting a skin up would make it more of a competition but the thing is not that many people are dedicated enough to master all those champs. Even if they put out a skin for 20 champs to lv 5 they would try at first but realize how much work it is and decide its not worth it This would make it a thing to shoot for if you are a completionist like me. I can see where your coming from as well though with the borders and how it would become too cluttered, I just want a little more for my efforts

Honestly, the reward for your efforts is the mastery score, the reaction from your friends when they view your profile ("Damn! That's a lot of level fives!"), and the mastery banner and added effects. It's a system that only means something if yoy want it to, and I think that that's cool. (I personally love the banners and showing them off, and that's why I've been trying to get my entire pool of champions to level five. (I also am a completist, like you, and I want to be able to say that I have level five on all of my champions.) Once all twenty-one of my champions are level five, I can feel free to play around with them and flaunt my mastery banners.) I understand that you want something more out of the system, but I honestly think that the fun-ness of the system would leave if there were setious rewards at stake. Here's an example. Say Riot releases "Masterful Lee Sin" for people with three hundred mastery score. Suddenly, I can't feel content with my small champion pool, since even with getting all of my champions to level seven I wouldn't be close to getting the skin. I'd have to start buying champions to play or using free-week champions, and I don't like doing that. I dislike the experience of doing terribly for my first ten or so matches on a champion as I get used to it, and I also don't find much of the champion pool extremely interesting to me. However, I'd <really> like to get Lee Sin and his skin for free, and so I'd grudgingly start playing more champions. Boom. Champion mastery isn't fun for me anymore. Also, right now I'm spending all of my IP on Runes and I can't spare any for champions. This is why I'd like to keep the rewards the way they are. (However, stuff is going to change once Riot releases Hextech crafting. Apparently there are skin rewards and the system has to do with champion mastery, so you might actually sorta get what you want. It might be something like a low chance for skin rewards for players playing on champions level five and up, with slightly higher chances for players with champions levels six and seven, or something like that. Whatever it is, it'll probably benefit you to have all of those level fives, so you'll probably get some nice reward for your dedication to the mastety system.)

But wait Heros of the Storm has a mastery system that gives out in game currency, icons, and skins. Hrm I guess it isn't possible for Riot.

I think an icon would be really cool.
