I have a theory as to why people don't like support

I'm not that good at league, but from what I know support seems less like a role in the same game and more like a different game altogether. With all the activated items and different things you have to remember to do for your team, it barely resembles the way the game plays for the other roles...which I assume is why people either play it never or exclusively. Anyone have opinions on that theory?

I have a simple theory. Players still put a higher value on KDA > winning games.

Also you do need to be reliant on a teammate and a lot of folks in solo don't trust them, personally I feel supports are the deciding factor on early game in bot.

People don't like being the 'low gold' role. You don't get the glory of those magnificient "You have slain an enemy.". There's a lot of visual, and textual stimulus that make other roles rewarding. I think that's a major contributor to why support isn't fun to some.

Also, it's one of the bigger roles where people scrutinize your picks, your build, and your playstyle the most. I get it more when I support vs when I jungle. Definitely more than when I play top or adc (I don't mid or have mid laned much). Who needs that negative attention?

nah.. all of the different roles are like that... also all of the roles can purchase active items that are good for their role. Nobody likes support because of a few different reasons.. but a lot of it has to do with not getting directly rewarded for your contribution.

Team reliance, and less flash. It wasn't until Rakan and Pyke that supports really had any flash in their kits. I remember starting in 2013 when Thresh came out and started giving supports a bit more appeal to the masses, but before then the character pool was limited and the skills boiled down to shielding and being a vulnerable sitting duck while everyone else could fly around and do cool stuff.

One thing to remember is that the main age bracket of LOL is 14-18, and when I was starting LOL at the age of 15 I wanted to be a cool badass like all my friends got to be. My fantasy wasn't being a big breasted woman, a little pixie girl or a mermaid, while they got to be samurai ninjas and hulking warriors.

I do not like support for the same reason i do not like bot, you are with another person.

nope... i love the support role.... i hate the people who choose to play ___ and flame me all game long... for support choice, cuz i went and died so they could get away, because i accidentally took 1 cs, god forbid a kill, cuz my wards were taken out by the enemy then we got ganked 4 man, and u told me the solution was to ward more........ for all the many reasons any player chooses to flame the support class... thats why people dont like support... because its treated like a 2nd class person
