Any tips on playing aatrox?

Im really garbage with him. He looks and feels strong but his kit feels strange. His ult lets you revive but even if you do you just end up ganged up and killed or the enemy fleeing. His dash doesn't seem like its useful. I tried dashing through some terrain but it doesn't work. The W can be avoided and it stops when it hits a minion. My basic attacks feel weak.
