In my opinion, people tend to mistake really bad players with trolls. Trolls often have strange or completely useless builds (for example, tears on Renekton), don't care about other players and feed intentionally. This is exactly what very new players (at level 1 to 20 or so) often do as well. I remember that my ex boyfriend introduced League to me. We got on Skype and he helped me with the log-in and stuff. And then, when we first got into a (bot) match, he picked Nami and I picked Kog. I didn't know anything about champs but I really liked Kog's laugh and dance. I remember that I was losing the lane very hard, and I didn't know why. And I just heard that my boyfriend started laughing and he couldn't say anything but "look at your build". And i didn't know what was wrong with my
and
on Kog. Was I a troll? No. I was just very new. This is why it's hard to get out from Bronze and Silver, because you need so much micro and macro game knowledge and even though you are supposed to be in, for example, Gold V, it is possible that your teammates are really bad or just simply new to the game. And everyone know that one bad player is enough to lose for a team as a whole. I also want to mention "troll picks" which are not always troll picks but the player doens't recognize that the current champion may not be good for his/her picked role.
