Shen and Zed Ult Buffs

Zed Ult: Deathmark ignores shields applied after a target is marked. For example, if Zed marks a target and Shen ults, the shield still absorbs damage from Zed's basic attacks and other abilities but not the damage from the actual ult. The main reason for this change is to make sure that shields that come too late come in vain, making it more of a certain death technique.

Shen Ult: Instead of having the whole shield plopped down onto an ally, the shield should be channeled (perhaps 40% initially and 20% per second) like the rest of his ult. In addition, his ult should give his ally a single ability spell shield for the first one second or so. The spell shield will help Shen save allies from being cc'ed to death.

One of the other reasons why I want these changes is to foster the Shen / Zed rivalry a little more. Thoughts?

Edit: I do acknowledge other champions are more deserving of buffs and that Shen and Zed probably don't need to be changed at this time, but what I'm mainly going for is more interesting gameplay and champion identity, not balance.

its cool but op vs other champs, the majority of games won't have both in versus each other. and while shen ult do happen vs zed its not that often.

if u want real rivalry make shen's ult only give spellshield to zed's ult nothing else (exclusively against deathmark). and only to shen's ult does zed's death mark ignore shield. so he could just pop the abysal with a different spell and the death mark would ignore only shen's ult. no interaction anywhere else. just between the two.

Thing is, shields don't last long. Zed plays are constantly talking about outplay, but that's what shields do. Ironically enough, this change removes some outplay potential from Zed's counters, like Orianna or Karma. Sorry, but I don't support this change. Unless he got some compensation, but after the 1 second delay on his ult shadow, I don't think you want the last thing on Zed's kit to be nerfed (his damage).

The Shen idea isn't terrible, but the way their ultimates work already serves for the purpose you would have these changes already. Shen's ult shields an ally, but Zed's ult prevents Shen from taunting him and whatnot.

In my opinion both of these changes are buffs, but neither would really make them too strong. In order to get the maximum damage off Zed's ult, Zed will have to damage his target anyways (which is absorbed by the shield). If Zed breaks the shield with his autos and other abilities before his mark is triggered (assuming the shield lasts that long), we end up with the same pre-change Zed. The only time the change matters is if there is a shield when the mark is triggered. Also instead of ignoring all of the shield, we can have it ignore a fraction of it instead.

@tombdragon The way you're using compensation is incorrect, since a compensation is supposed to be a gain in face of some loss. As for Shen, the intention is not to change the purpose of his ult, but simply to make it better.
