Lux Support

SSJ4 Froku - Summoner Stats - League of Legends

Ok. So I'm a support lux main. I've only been playing league since the end of Season 7 but I just wanted to know why I get so much crap for playing lux.

In my opinion/observations

  • Her q is a decent cc that can go through two people/minions. (I usually use this as a bait since most adc's feel safe hiding behind minions)
  • "IF" you max w first her shield is really strong. Especially with aery as your rune.
  • Her e is a decent aoe damage and slow. I've saved myself and my team multiple times by using it to slow the enemy.
  • She has a basic QER combo that provides pretty good burst and her R is good for finishing people the adc couldn't who ran away
  • Building Twin Shadows, Shurelya's Reverie, Redemption, and Mikael's Crucible allows for more utility and provides decent AP along with 40% CDR
  • Also Her Flash q combo is a guaranteed stun for when your jungler is coming to gank because it seems like neither the enemy sup or adc is ever expecting it.
  • Also (even tho this is always a 50/50 chance) She can steal objectives such as dragon or baron with her ER combo.

I do realize I am only silver. As I said before I've only played League for A Year Total so I just wanted to understand why I get so much hate for this. On op.gg you'll see I have above a 50% win rate in ranked with her and slightly above a 4:1 kda ratio with her. ( Honestly has dropped recently) Also I can constantly get a A to S rank regardless if I win or lose the game.

Of course I know I need to work on things like ward management, map awareness, when to take what objective, when to group ,etc., given that I'm still very inexperienced.

I am by no means entitled to give advice here, but from what I think, Lux is better is played mid lane simply because she can be a snowbally champion.

A lot of supports don't really have that ability.

All your points are valid though. Her CC can be used to peel, set up ganks, she has a damn massive shield. You just lose too much on your ULT without damage items.

Like Lux can be your main AP nuke while a tank or a mage specially designed to be support(Lulu, Janna, Soraka) be in her place.

You might as well play Lissandra support or Veigar(since he stacks AP while building support items).

Are they all viable: absolutely; Optimal: perhaps no.

Lux is playable but not viable in my opinion as a support.

Its just that everything she does another real support can do it better.

If you want to pick engage Alistar Braum Rakan If you want peel and shields Lulu Janna Nami If you want damage Brand

She is the classic example of jack of all trades, master of none, which is really bad because she is also Item reliant, which goes against the philosophy of supports

While I do agree with you on the fact that lux is not "optimal" I just haven't found anyone other than brand that I like to play sup role. Nami I can do decent in but not good enough to climb ranked in. Janna....I just hate playing Janna in general. Rakan is usually my backup if I can't play Brand or Lux, but that's because I really suck at playing tank/engage champs. I mean even If I do a good engage I usually still end up dying so it'll end up a 1 for 1 trade. With Brand and Lux I can stun/root from a safe distance without getting directly in the line of fire so to speak.

LUX IS NOT A SUPPORT

Lux is in a state Karma's in: She's got elements for mid and elements for support, but because she has two conflicting fan bases, Riot's super antsy on making one specific one actually good. Only, in this case, Lux is more suited to mid lane than she is supporting, whereas Karma was better suited for support since she has an aoe shield, good early damage, and scales for jack shit.

With this said, the reason people give you shit for Lux support is because you should be picking real support champions. Lux is a carry pick.

Why do you care what meta sheeps thinks? If for example FNC today picked Lux support, they will start maining her and claiming she is better suited so support...

If you like her in support then play her support, ignore the stupid talks of your team or, if you can't swallow it, mute all pre-emptively.

As someone who plays Lux support a lot too I can give you some advices though:

  • she is best paired with immobile marksman as you can predict their movement easier and they also have easier time to position to get the second shield proc
  • don't bother with glacial augment it is not worth it at all
  • don't bother maxing W, even when losing, having more damage from E is better so you can get back into game with a pick, however I usually put second point into W at lvl 4 though and maxing Q last
  • don't bother building athenes, redemption or mikaels, from support items only support items worth it are ardent (and only because its high raw AP) and locket (but only get it if they have many AP champions or very fed - also it depends what kind of champion is it, if they have LB it is useless, but if they have someone like Syndra or Orianna then locket has high value as it is easy to use before their abilities hits)
  • don't bother trying to leave kills, use all you have, leave kill only if you feel it is 100% guaranteed enemy won't escape or kill you or your duolaner
  • don't pick exhaust, this spell is utterly useless this season, only taken by inting trolls along with cleanse, also since exhaust is not an option that leaves just two choices basically ignite or barrier, I play with barrier personally

Honestly I don't really care what "meta sheep" think. I just wanted to be given a valid reason so I can more so understand why. I mean I've had decent success with it and the first time I was told Lux wasn't a sup was by the person who got me into league. Also never really thought about locket on lux, i'll try that out. I do agree with you on exhaust being next to useless. I've been primarily taking ignite in my games.

There is no real reason. If you look at above comments they basically saying - she can be played in middle. Thats basically what you can tell about Shen and Gragas and both were considered as "trollpicks" too, but now they were played in Worlds so suddently they are meta, although nobody of these guys can tell why Gragas yes and Lux no. Because their arguments apply for both of them.

Imo, Lux is basically weakest mage and also easiest to abuse one. There are not many favorable matchup as those champions that would be easy to play Lux into are not current meta. Support makes more sense and she is basically best enchanter right now after nerfs to them, maybe Nami is better but thats it.

Also, locket is certainly not a core item. As I said, consider it only if they have champions that you can use this against or 3+ AP.

I like how you deleted and reposted this thread just because multiple people gave good reasons why everybody hates her and the thread was downvoted

Lucky for you, I don't feel like re-typing my list

For you info riot deleted my post because I had it in the wrong section. They then told me I could re-post and gave a suggestion for where I should post it at. Know facts before stating false information
