What Is The Point Of Jhin Right Now? (Patch 9.14)

I get it Jhin is a low mobility (except crits), high damage, high risk, high reward champion that scales really hard late game. But the problem is that is about half or more of the ADC's in this game and they are at less risk. For example Ezreal Ezreal, a very safe champion. So what is the offset of Ezreal for his safety. Its mainly misplaying ,missing abilities, and not the best DPS. The thing about his DPS isnt very big for him tho because he has a lot of burst and he still has a decent amount of DPS still. What missing his abilities and misplaying to be punished has really turned into is Yasuo syndrome where you miss an ability and are usually punished for it harshly but the problem with both champions is they have ways to escape and can spam the ability offsetting the miss a lot by itself. Don't get me wrong they still get punished but the main point is Ezreal can still do high damage like Jhin and has far more safety. Ok what about Tristana Tristana . She has a similar case where she is safe to play and is punished for using her abilities wrong but this time instead of having low DPS she instead gets punished for engaging wrong and using her reset wrong. Now here is where this gets touchy. She is punished just fine for rushing in because she can be focused and shutdown but when she gets a kill she basically gets a free escape if they can't follow her which a lot of champions cant do. Morale of the story is she is safer than Jhin and can still do a lot of damage as well. One more champion and i'll wrap it all up. Caitlyn Caitlyn is a different case then the rest. She isn't that mobile as well but she has enhanced auto range, a cc ability that gives her some kite, and traps that again give her cc and enhance her damage. She basically trades out mobility for damage like Jhin does except she does a lot herself and has better DPS because she attacks fast, does a ton of damage, and doesn't need to reload. Now Jhin has three main things that he has to trade for to do big damage. He has low mobility, has to reload, he basically has no hard cc, and he is incredibly squishy. Kiting is also sort of a thing Jhin doesn't have too much of because he relies on autos so much which most of the time is in range for other champions to burst him. Caitlyn has more reliable kite, she has two far more reliable hard cc moves than Jhin, she doesn't have to reload, and she isn't as squishy (although still squishy) in fact that only thing she really has less of is mobility which she has more range for anyways and I guess she has less burst damage but she has better DPS because she doesn't have to reload. The point is that why play Jhin when there are safer options that can do similar damage. Unless you go triple IE item 3031 I guess which is still a dumb excuse because why should Jhin be forced to go three of the same item to even do damage which btw the effect doesn't stack which means he is missing the effects of two other items that he could have. So basically why should Jhin pop like a balloon when everyone else at least can avoid it better and still do a similar amount of damage.

Jhin does too much damage as is, he does insane amounts in a single shot he just needs a slight nerf to his crit scaling and a slight buff on his movement speed (maybe even gaining a slight amount of tenacity on his passive after a crit with the bonus movement speed for a short duration)

Exactly! Thank you so much for saying this. I have been thinking and should have said this before but I think this would be a great buff to make him a little bit more safe to play and not needing to be saved by his team while not being incredibly strong just strong enough to where he can at least save himself some more.

I mean it would make sense if he's meant to go fast him being so easy to lock down is insane, sure he has high damage but whats it matter if you get rooted and then stunned and deleted , less crit scaling and more speed with a slight amount of tenacity would help him survive while not removing him from the meta because he doesnt do damage

Me, a player who plays Jhin and Draven when I'm autofilled adc. I think Jhin is Jhin and he's fine now. He just need some protection from the team. If he gets any buffs he won't be fun to play anymore and he'll be a garbage champion. If he get nerfs its the same. Jhin is the most weak adc right now I agree. But he's the most fun one. Please Riot don't do any change to him. He's so fun to play.

I can agree that he shouldn't be changed and I never did quote for him to be buffed or nerfed it's just how he is in the meta like he just doesnt have much of a purpose besides hide behind your team and try to let out his huge damage but at the moment he just can't compare to the safety of other champs is my main issue. He is just too unsafe to play as a pick when you can play Ezreal, Tristana, and etc. I do understand what you are saying tho and I do agree I just want him to not be so focused on whether your team can save you or not. Maybe one day he will get a good lifesteal build that will save him a bit from these issues but I do doubt it. One thing i want is for him to be not so reliant on his team saving him.

What's the point of Jhin at all, to be honest.

jhin is very strong, but you need a good support like most adcs, he deals so much damage and gets free ad off items i mean

Firing At Will

That's a problem I should have talked about and I thank you for talking about it. I think Jhin relies too much on having a good support tho while other ADC's can at least usually do something like Ezreal gets his own peel, so does Tristana and a bit of Caitlyn which i did talk about a moderate amount. I just think he relies too much on his team and support saving him and helping him carry. I just think he should be allowed to be a bit less reliant on his team while not being overly strong.

We have a bunch of other issues with balance atm, we don't need jhin to get shield removal on his 4th auto attack.
