The Fiora dilemma
Ever since I picked up the game I've longed to be a Fiora main; her outplay potential and high damage output really appealed to me. Every game I play with her, I go at least 10 kills. Fiora is like my ideal girl to play >:)
Here's the catch.
I go at least 10 kills since I've isolated myself in top lane to make their top laner useless and to distract the jungler. It seems as if everytime Fiora tries to teamfight, she presses the "r" button and then gets hard chain crowd controlled and dies. Fiora has basically little contribution to teamfights, if the enemy team focuses her, she might as well not be able to press r. She's one of the only champs who don't provide any cc but requires some skill to stay in the game. This means that if Fiora falls behind (just a little bit), she can't offer anything to her team since her kit isn't designed to aid with teamfights. She's also the only champion in the game who literally has no escape (Flash does not count). You can argue that her q is her escape, but she needs to dash to an enemy in order to perform a lunge, I'm pretty sure you don't want to "escape" to your enemy turret for safety. Okay, well Swain, Xerath, Nami and those folks don't have escapes... But they do, they have hard cc that can allow them to walk out of sticky situations, unfortunately Fiora does not have a single ability in her kit to do the same.
I find that in lower levels, people don't know how to play Fiora and they begin to say she's overpowered and desperately needs a nerf. The thing is, if you know the game you know you should never try a 1v1 against Fiora. If Fiora tries to go into a fight, a good team would know to focus their cc on her and quickly burst her down. If Fiora falls behind because (for example's sake) Shaco camped her lane and she's completely helpless against Darius in top lane, she can't roam down midlane and perform a beautiful gank by locking the opponent down, nor can she go and farm without getting bullied by Darius. She's completely useless and will have to farm for an extended amount of time, assuming the enemy Top laner left the lane to help with teamfights, if he didn't that's an even different story...
You see, champions like Riven
or Sion
are all examples of top laners who can afford to fall behind. Riven provides good amounts of cc and has godlike mobility if she builds the slightest bit of CDR. Sion can afford to buy defensive items for days and continue farming, being the beefy front line and providing great crowd control for his team. If Fiora falls behind, she can't build defensive items and/or provide utility for her team, and the player will just continue to feed and possibly get flamed by their team.
It's quite obvious that if you give Fiora a stun or a good slow, she will be very powerful and can begin to burst down opponents without giving them a fair chance to fight back. I believe the creativity of the community can come up with better ways to not add any cc to her kit, but to fix what has given Fiora the reputation of being one of the worst champions in League of Legends (at least to more experienced players).
**So I'll propose this, you don't have to add any cc to Fiora's kit. What we can do is give Fiora a chance to come back after a losing lane against a good, logical opponent. Perhaps after you parry an attack from your opponent (her w), Fiora begins to shred armor or her passive begins to heal her even quicker. Maybe her q can stay at 1 cooldown throughout all ranks, allowing her to have some more juke/chasing potential. Tweak her passive so that she gains lifesteal as she continues to fight. Make it so that her E (Burst of speed) acts like a
to give her a bit of survivability in teamfights. **
These are some of the ways I think Riot can tweak Fiora to fix her weaknesses and change her playstyle. No longer does she have to stay Top Lane and split push, she could do something when teamfighting against a good team. I'm genuinely interested in what the community thinks what should be done to Fiora and what can be done to her kit to improve her playstyle.
lacking CC and escape... That is the true meaning of no escape mechanism.

. Shes definitely below the water for the moment, just don't think Riot plans to make any changes soon.
