How do you punish off-meta supports?

I notice alot of Olaf, Brand, Vel Coz, and some other off meta supports recently.

At first, as Thresh, I would take AD runes, and harass them out of lane. Which is fine and works great. We completely won bot. But 15-20 mins into the game, Olaf will disappear and come back with an pick axe, or Brand coming back with a large rod and when they ult, it just destroys us. At this point it was no longer possible to fight them beacuse their engage is so good. Especially Olaf, once he has a few items, and he ults? the Chase and sustain is real. There was no way we could peel off Olaf for our ADC, he just R, and run towards us and destroys us plus their TOP Tp down and mid roamed. Is there some counter play? what should I have done? Just so you know wards were placed, and we did have information that mid was coming. We just couldnt do anything when Top dove us with Olaf and their Kalista.

How do you guys play against these champs? Especially Olaf, which by mid game, he already has Titaniac Hydra, and armor, and Magic Resist.

Well if thats what they buy, then they are not support. Count on enemy lack of vision and play on that.

One word....vision

When off meta supports like are building damage, they aren't investing in wards. Instead of fighting, use vision to get picks of single targets or to put rotate and just siege down turrets

against olaf really the only way to stop him is to use displacement or hard CC, so usually alistar is his best counter.

Nobody wins 4v2 or even usury 3v2, where was your team?

vs Olafs, don't feed early and he falls of, if he doesn't get kill/assist gold, he will crumble as a rather squishy low utillity melee.

brand and Vwl are just two really strong mage-supports(like zyra), and the only reason for them to not be meta is that people underestimate them, or that they fail to adjust their teamcomp/botlane playstyle to those picks.

also, the mistake number 1 is thresh, he's very vulnerable to all picks you mentioned, he's a very easy target him self, he can't peel vs olaf and has little else to offer, and if he doesn't land all the hoocks, he can do little vs a somewhat well played vel or brand. And if their top TPS and their mid roams, you can't do much other than establish vision controll and back off in time. It's a 5v5 afterall, and they outplayed you as a team.

Supps that work well into those picks are lulu, karma and morgana, braum also has some potential. or vs olaf, a similar off meta like brand or vel, if he doesn't get early kills/assists, he will lack the items to really get tanky, so you just focus fire on him 2v2 and pop him easy with a more damage focused supp(really, thresh deals like no damage at all, he'S usuless for such a situation) If sup olaf does not get alot kills/assists, there is no way he woul have a titanic+armor+mr by midgame, unless he steals farm from the carry, maybe ignores/sells the gold item and doesn't get sightstone. If he does that, you should be able to establish visioncontroll with ease, and than have ganks comeing bot, or you+jungle invade their blus and secure dragons. Again, this is a team game, it's 5v5, if he doesn't go for sightstone, he's stronger 2v2, but if you guys play as a team, you can do far more 5v5
