Finally made the jump, bronze to silver...here's my story
First off let me say this is my first season of league. Hadn't been a PC gamer since Warcraft 3, but my brother started playing league so I thought I'd give it a try. I got instantly hooked by the deep competitive gameplay.
I'll also say that I tend to be, at least compared to people I know an above average gamer, when it comes to competitive ranked play. I've always been big into climbing the ranked ladder in sports game (madden, nhl, fifa) and shooters as well. I'm diamond ranked in overwatch and I only play it casually.
That being said, getting to silver was one of THE hardest challenges I've had in a game, but it made it all the more satisfying, although probably too time consuming.
So, in preason I was feeling pretty good because I placed silver 5 and climbed to Silver 2 not having any idea where my skill level was haVing just played normal games. I thought at the time Darius top was my jam and that if I went 2-0 in lane phase I was a god.
Fast forward to the regular season and I placed in B1. I didn't realize at the beginning of each season you are playing a lot of former gold players in B1 and I STRUGGLED. I probably lost 15 out of my first 20 games and I was getting stomped in lane. So I fell in to B2,B3. At this point I'm getting discouraged and thinking I need to experiment with different champs. And I did. In ranked. Bad idea. I fell to B5. The dumpster. Ouch.
I was still feeling ok because I had played B5 people in normals and would always win lane. But I soon found out just winning lane is not enough.
This began the next stage of my skill development because my god, going 2-0 in lane then ending 8-5 just wasn't getting it done with the mass feeding going on(How unfair!!! I thought that a lot).
I came up with my own little slogan, "smash to win". I literally have to SMASH my lane 9/10 games to win consistently (how unfair!) I'm talking 4-0 in 10-12 mins. I started doing this with Talon mid and was having some success except bronze games can go on for so long that talon gets somewhat useless in late game team fights. So I proceeded to climb and fall, climb and fall, up and down and around I went. B5 to B3 back and forth. What do I need to do to win!!!!!
Well here's a few tips that finally got me out:
-
Friend good and positive people you play with and duo wit them. This can save you a ton of time!!! You only really need two people who know what they are doing in bronze to win. Everyone else can feed their butt off. There are plenty of people stuck who have SOME skill just like you.
-
Find a champ that clicks with you that you can get an early lead AND scales well into late game. Yasuo is the champ for a lot of people but I'm not a loser follower (sorry yas mains) so I found this with AP Cho'gath. All the credit to a youtuber named Balori. Check him out!

OBJECTIVES! I got a boat load of kills when I played talon at first and I would wonder why I would lose going 25/7. Why? Because I didn't push objectives fast enough and I fell off late game.

Know you're going to win. You need this mindset or else you're setting yourself up to give up too quickly when your team begins to feed. Trust me, you can always come back in Bronze. Mistakes happen every minute.

Dont main support. I know someone who is doing this and idk if they can effect the game enough to win consistently in bronze. Just my opinion.
Good luck!!
