Is there ever gonna be a purpose to honor or will it forever remain some pointless thing?

As it is no one even cares, it serves no purpose. Why not make it a counter to toxicity every time you get honor from someone not on your friends list one report is removed from the records. This way when you're nice your countering the reports and or false reports against you. When you're a jerk you're getting reported. Gives incentive for people who are considered toxic to work not to be.

For those with no reports give small rewards for being honored like a small bonus to ip earned. Maybe for those that continually show good behavior a skin. But not anything big enough to warrant abuse. Just enough to make people want to change and be good.

Rewarding people cause they merely haven't been punished isn't as good as rewarding people for continuously being good or for changing their attitude. This gives a way to not only make people want to work towards being positive but to make them feel like they are making progress towards those goals.

You could also give different kinds of rewards for different kinds of honor. As well as Make it so you can display each kind of ribbon.

They've actually already mentioned something about positive reports (honor?) being tied to a new function of the Tribunal to possibly reward players with consistently positive behavior.

Edit: found it

In addition to working on the punishment systems, we've been working on some really neat positive reinforcement features in the new Tribunal, where players can now also review positive behaviors and hand out cool rewards. These features will give Honor renewed purpose, as being Honored will make you eligible to enter the Tribunal for a "positive" review to hopefully net some cool stuff!

id say no to this because a ruined game is a lot worse than doing something you're supposed to be doing. no one says "good job" every kill.

the better thing to do here is give out skins and bonus lp to consistent positive play. (the problem with this would be everyone would hand out team work honor like crazy).

the best way would be to encourage people to play with friends or a pre existing team, and when you play with the same people over and over you are far less likely to lash out at them. whats the point, you lashing at them didnt make them stop doing it or improve, so why do it?

I forgot which pro, but 1 pro player honors Froggen so every time he sees Honorable Opponent on enemy team, he instantly bans Anivia.

That's a great use of the feature if you ask me

Yea, I have over 300 teamwork honor points and I haven't seen anything happen yet...

Well then limit daily honor to give out to 5 times so that people cant just shovel honor out to people and so people never know if they can get enough honor to cover reports and make it so individual reports count more than premade reports so individual ones count as one and premade count as 1 even if 4.

Yeah I like the ideas here and the theory behind them. I actually posted something similar on the "Player Behavior Design Values" post, and my ideas were well received by the community. Here are some links if you're interested in something along these lines:
