TF's Pick a Card

I just played my first TF game (did horribly against teemo mid), and I noticed when I tried picking blue card for example, it would pick red card. Do you have to push w really fast to pick or what? And also sometimes the order started from red or yellow, not from blue.

It's random which card it starts on, but cycles the same way each time. You need to press it again when it's on the desired card.
