Why is it that I have to deal with 180+ ping on your game when I get a speedtest for 31-39ping?!

Fix your god damn servers Riot, jesus christ I am sick of this.

you do realize that that 31-39 ping is specifically for the speed test server also the majority of internet providers prioritize traffic to speed test servers specifically to get good numbers.

Granted riot does have server problems but speedtest isn't a good measure anymore.

more or less still riot needs to do something about the ping cause im no bronze i see bronze when ever i rank and i want to yank my hair out at how stupid they are

No actually they don't prioritize traffic to speedtest servers. Sometimes they will host their own for troubleshooting purposes.

That is not a server issue. It is a distance issue. The reason you get such low ping in the speed test is because you chose such a close location.

i live in the west coast, and i am getting 200+ ping as well compared to my regular 20ping in game. it is riots server

Perhaps you are having some connection issues or something is consuming your bandwidth. If you are using wifi this could also lead to issues. OP claimed East coast where there is no chance of him getting 30 ping on west coast servers. I have 60 down/5 up and still get 40-80 ping (always have) in in games and speed tests from west coast servers (be it speed tests, LoL, other games). I have also been getting a steady 80 ping in my last several games. Perhaps there are some issues occasionally, but if you are consistently getting those pings its either a distance issue or a problem on your end since others are not currently having the same problem.

It's also a server issue. My normal ping to North America (I'm from Brazil) used to be 160 ~ 170. Then Riot had a ton of lag problems and my normal ping to that same server is now 190 that is the same ping I have in EUW. For some months I had 240+ ping in EUW but since Riot started using their new data centre my ping is back on the 190 range again. A lot of people have increased ping compared to the days they started playing this game. Anyway other games have much lower ping. In Smite NA I get 130. I think 200 ping for a server in the US when you are in the US is too much if you consider I have 190 for a server in Amsterdam playing from Brazil O.o

A 20 point ping difference isn't a sign of any lag, particularly at those ranges, so this doesn't actually mean anything.

A ping test from Texas to Amsterdam results in 140 ping and 59.90 Mbps Down/3.32 Mbps Up for me, and clearly I have solid internet. A lot of people probably don't have the very good internet (maybe 1-5 Mbps down/1 or less Up) or may be suffering from other complications on their end such as firewall, router, CPU load, network settings, etc. This is all in addition to the large distance their data has to travel. I can tell you a lot of people have a thing for wifi which WILL almost always produce worse net performance then a physical connection.

Reasons you may see better ping in Smite vs NA LoL:

The server is in Dallas, TX I believe which is reasonably closer to you.
The server is in Dallas which is a prime hub for data centers.
Smite may have to handle less data than LoL.

200 ping isn't that bad, its the packet loss that really kills it. Routes/backbone connection can also play a huge part in why there are such connection issues and it wouldn't be Riot's fault, specifically in such cases.

Of course, Riot has its own connection issues from time to time so it isn't like the issue is never on their end. More or less this was intended to address the misleading OP which claimed 30ms range ping which was absolutely not accurate of the situation, in fact completely misleading and false. The best way to address this would be for Riot to relocate their NA server.

The other day i had 4k ping(no kidding, my jaw fucking dropped, i didn't even know you could get that much), to fix it i simply had to disconnect and reconnect to the game.

Yep it was def something on my end and not Riots servers

As an east coaster who gets 95-110 ping on average (With spikes and packet loss fairly often) I agree that it is hard to play against people getting 20-40 ping from the west coast. Your best bet to get better ping is to switch to LAN, most people go from around 110 to near 40-45 if you are on the east coast.

Riot will not be doing anything about east coast ping anytime soon, we all know that. So if you can't deal with 200 ping then you should just transfer to LAN, it is also free right now.
