Update your Tip for CDR please

with the 5% mastery you can hit 45% cdr which the tip states 40cdr is max. it could ocnfuse newer players who take talent and hit 40 w/o knowing they can get above it with it.

The cap is 40% for all intents and purposes within the game. You can opt into the mastery which essentially breaks the 40% general rule and increases the cap. Our hope is that if a player puts points into that mastery, they recognize why they're allowed to break the rule.

But player's who are not aware of the talent might get confused if they a playing against others who have chosen that talent.

The mastery literally says it increases your cooldown cap by 5%. Your argument is invalid.

He explicitly talked about player "not aware" of said mastery. His argument is perfectly valid. I don't know how long it took you to learn all 3 different trees, but it can be a long time.

Actually he didn't.

What OP meant here is that with the specific mastery being taken (Intelligence), tooltip is not updated to say that the new CDR cap is 45% and that this will confuse new players when they reach 40% - 45% cap - i suppose if they forget that they've taken Intelligence.

Learning mastery trees is not a tough thing to do since you can't invest in all masteries in the same tree but knowing what every mastery does, for a new player, takes time - sure. You only need to remember pivotal mastery choices you've made for a specific champion you're playing and even then, masteries are passive bonuses. Do you need to know that Sorcery gives you +2% more ability damage? No, you don't. Do you need to remember that every 25 seconds, killing a minion restores 20 HP? No, but it is useful to remember to use it on CD if you're low on HP.

Yes he did... Can't you read?

I don't know from where are you getting this, this isn't what originally OP has said. Either i'm right or you're right, therefore making Riot Sotere right.

So I suppose you use chronological order view, and I suggest you switch to thread order view (at the top of the page, just above comment), and I am getting this from the very post I answered to, which is indeed not OP...

Yea, thanks for the help. I guess i pressed it accidentally a few days ago and it has been chaos when reading threads and following who said what. [slayer-pantheon-thumbs]

Until as a new player you unexpectedly face someone who has 45% CDR.

Since I have played for years I understand it, however if a new player who is still learning the game takes said mastery and then sees that tip there is the chance they will stop at 40%cdr not realizing they can go to 45%.

or, as stated below, encounters someone with 45%cdr and doesnt understand why they can go above the limit (could result in false cheating reports if misunderstood)

Since RIOT has reduced the EXP needed to level it will cut back on the time players learn new stuff (since they will earn mastery points more frequently) and trying to learn alot at the same time can result in misunderstandings.

I admit i have no clue how possible it could happen and i have no idea how easy/difficult changing tips are. was just a thought that popped in my head when I saw it recently.

Always great to see that on the loading screen when you're questioning "Did I take Hybrid Pen or 45% CDR?"

You can only start breaking the cap at level 13 (level 17 to reach 5%). At that point you probably have a good understanding of the CDR cap and masteries in general...
