Honor system changes.
When you’re building a system that is completely user driven, things can be scary, especially when rewarding players based on that system. So here are my thoughts about what changes can be made to improve the new honor system.
First of all, I don’t think the wheel needed to be reinvented here. The only thing truly wrong with the old system was that it was unrewarding. That being said…
Better or more honor selection types:
- What if you weren’t the best “shot-caller” or became slightly tilted due to some bad team fight decisions, but you were an undeniably supportive player? You might get a “GG”, but you were EPIC! There has to be more ways to recognize the team roles. -Details: A new honor “Dependable” can be given to a teammate who helped carry the team to victory or who was always there to aid the team (Supports rejoice).
Honoring multiple players/Give honoring players more control:
- Giving players only one teammate to honor is just bad. It does not teach nor does it reflect team building, and instead asks “who was THE SINGLE BEST player and why?”
-Change: Give players multiple teammates and even opponents to honor (like the old system). This gives us the opportunity to recognize players as a TEAM. “This player did this, this player did that and these other players did an overall good job” kind of mentality. This doesn’t have to be too complicated.
- Details: Players can now choose two teammates to honor with either “Shot-caller”, “Friendly/tilt-proof” or “Dependable”. Only one of these honors can be given per teammate. After a player has chosen any two of these, they can either leave the honor screen OR give “GG” honors to other teammates or opponents. "GG" honors are given less honors lvl points.
These a really but a few ideas, but if anyone agrees with me please help me spread the word.
