choose a keyboard key to talk with your team
this game should have one keyboard key to talk with your teammates because the communication is very important to the game and we lose a lot a time writing messages.

The issue with creating a way for players to communicate just on the games platform is that it opens up so many issues for Riot. How many times are you playing Xbox live or on PSN and have the overwhelming amount of people that yell, scream, talk down, and make racial slurs to others etc? One of the great things about League right now is that despite the few trolls and occasional spammer, there is no outlet to be obnoxious without having to take the time to type it out, which seems to snuff out the majority of trash talk and such. My thing is, if you want to make a team, and find a channel to speak to them do it. But giving the option for in game talking yes would be helpful (when used right) but could drastically change how the community of the game is currently (when taken advantage of). I personally would not want someone to be able to scream in my ear while I am playing League.
Try the mute feature... Dota 2 has a push to talk option and i played that game for well over a year. I agree its annoying when sm1 flames over the mic, but seriously just mute him. Verbal and Text are different forms of communication sure, but it's the same thing when talking shit. Both can be dealt with the same way. Riot trying to baby their members is unnecessary.
The issue with muting someone is that it creates even less communication than having zero option of verbal communication. I mute you, none of the other team does, I try to talk because I cant hear you blasting music through your headset, meanwhile other teammates are hearing both sets of noise, I then get muted you get muted and people continue to play on without talking anyway. It creates more of an issue than what it could help. There are pings for a reason and there are outlets of communication for organized teams outside of the game to be used.
I find communicating with a toxic person creates more harm than good anyways. They typically respond with things like "ill just afk, ill just feed, fuck you newb i'm not going to group i dont want to win with you anyways"
Just curious to know, have you played dota 2? The push to talk feature isnt nearly as bad as you make it out to be.
If they required a credit card (no payment) to activate VoIP privileges, I'd take it. It's a quick way to weed out most of the children, which represents most of the people who use communication tools to be annoying.
"Isnt nearly as bad as you make it out to be". As in it's bad? Just not as bad as I make it sound? Or that it actually works? Ultimately its hardly worth adding the feature when it creates more issues than it would solve.
No it would fix the problem the OP has mentioned. Quicker communication, less risk. Like i said, I have experience with push to talk on Dota 2 and it wasnt bad. Not like you make it out to be.
Saying "Hey I know this will take you time and money to change and you will have to monitor audio and address complaints due to abusive language all the time BUT.. I hear that the feature "wasn't bad" in Dota 2." That doesn't exactly give myself or Riot much hope. Lol
If they can **** out cuss words/block sm1s text completely, they can have an option to not listen to others mics.
the issue is (that you're somehow failing to see) If I mute the push to talk chat, everybody else is still using it. which means they wont communicate via text. which means I wont hear the important stuff that might be said.
in the other scenario, where I just mute the rager - I still have to listen to every other team mate bitch at them.
At this rate I don't even know what you are arguing about. Adding this feature would cause more issues than it would help. Give people the feature and they will abuse it. Ultimately it is not something that is worth developing into the game. Not something that is worth Riot doing, therefor probably not worth discussing anymore. IF you have something better than "It wasn't bad" in another game then maybe it would be worth talking about but at this rate... it's not. You are failing to realize that sure it would be nice to have, but it comes with the hundreds of more issues that simply are not worth dealing with. The feature is nothing this community needs as stated in other comments.
The game doesn't "NEED" a lot of things, but riot still gives them to us anyways.
Another response with no real point. I'm glad you could try to address the very last sentence in my post though, shows that you are trying.
You have no real point either.. your biggest point is, people will rage. lol
No, if you would read, you would see I have both player side issues as well as developing/ maintenance/monitoring issues, and maybe also general community issues. These points have been stated in multiple posts in hopes of you actually understanding, but I think in the end I wont get you to understand. Limiting my posts to "people will rage" is showing you either can't read well and reflect upon statements, or that I am right and you have run out of things to say and hoped getting the last word would help.
You sound like sm1 with low selfesteem, afraid to get bullied online.. honestly you are just making poor excuses for something as simple as verbal communication to be implemented in a game where it is crucial.
I for sure have low self esteem, completely got me on that one! Haha, you are a joke. As far as "poor excuses" go.. I was not aware that paying attention to the work it takes for a developer to impose and monitor this feature and repeatedly explaining player side issues to you are poor examples of things to discuss. Perhaps your description of "poor" is different than mine? Much like your understanding of the statement "Wasn't bad" as you used before to describe the feature. If anyone is lacking anything it would be you lacking the intelligence to defend your "side" of this debate without attacking me personally and consistently avoiding the actual topic.
Robton...I'm beginning to think you're one of the players that makes me not want this feature
yes so i can scream into the mic like a 5 year old lol.
And its one thing to keep millions of text logs of games, quite another to keep millions of audio logs.

SODA has just been officially released and it comes with VOIP and push to talk. I don't see why riot can't do this.
No thanks. The ragey 7 year olds wouldn't be worth the lag that it would cause. ( for real. Riot can't update a bug without crashing the servers for a week half the time) It wouldn't be worth the extra time spent standing in fountain to verbally scream at each other and make your mom jokes. Not to mention, as a female player - the "OH MY GOD A GIRL. WOW ARE YOU HAWT. DO YOU HAVE BEWBS." that comes out of almost every single young person in the gaming community (don't even defend that, I have spent way too much time on the Xbox live and playstation servers for you to convince me otherwise) makes this a terrible idea to me. Not to mention all the older flamers being rude to somebody simply because they "sound young" This is something this community doesn't need. ever.

now I WILL add, that a push to talk feature at higher ranked games wouldn't be so horrible. Because at least by then hopefully skill and dedication to not being a raging troll has weeded out most of the people that would make this feature suck
