So last season i ended off as bronze 3 or 4. This season I went 7- 3 in my placements, but the system put me in bronze 5........ IS THIS A BUG PLS HELLP.

Nope. It's how the MMR to rank works.
Naw, it's based on your mmr. The system is really quite forgiving with not demoting people as soon as their mmr gets low relative to their division, so many people had mmr's several divisions below what their final rank was. The soft reset pulled people towards silver 4ish mmr-wise, but there were still a lot of people with bronze 5 level mmr's despite being mid/high bronze rank wise.
Still, if you keep up a 70% win rate, your mmr will quickly go up, and having a higher mmr will mean you'll get lots of lp per win (and lose relatively few for a loss), so you'll climb out of B5 before too long.
