I am a gold 1 player that has played my platinum promos 2 times and both times went 2 wins 3 losses. My mmr is about plat 2 so I play vs players much higher than my rank. What I don't understand is why riot matches me vs plat 2 players in my promos to plat 5. The whole point of your promos is to prove that you are worth plat 5, so logically when anyone is in there promos they should be matched vs players that are the elo you are trying to be promoted to not whatever your mmr matches you vs. This opinion might be a bit biased because I'm severely tilted but I feel it would be much healthier game design to put it this way.

You should always play people in the se division.

Riot does this to help people not "regress." To fall from say, Silver to Bronze you would not only have to lose a ridiculous amount of games but you would need to lose them against Bronze 2 3 and 4 players.
