WHY DO I LOSE LP WHEN MY TEAM TROLLS AND GOES AFK???

Chrillox··4 votes·2,219 views

I just lost 22 lp from a game, where my toplaner was afk, and my adc was trolling and flaming. Last game i carried my team and got 17 lp. HOW IS THAT EVEN REMOTELY FAIR????

Should you gain LP when somebody on the other team goes afk?

DeathBurst3 votes

BECAUSE YOU ALSO WIN LP WHEN THE ENEMY TEAM TROLLS AND GOES AFK.

(God, how can you write in all caps like that, it's exhausting...)

Because you win LP when the ennemy team trolls and afk

They should change that system. I dont think i should lose lp when someone on my team goes afk.

Weathered2 votes

The LP differences are because your MMR is lower than average for your rank. The reason it can't be changed to have loss prevention from an AFK mid game is because people would abuse it by AFK'ing in the middle of an obvious loss so that their friends do not lose LP.

MysterQ1 votes

So punish the AFKer who is abusing. I don't know why that is always a counter.

DeathBurst1 votes

How? Unless you demote them a full division for every AFK, that's still worth it to do what Weathered described. And you obviously don't want to demote people a full division for one AFK game because you can be forced to AFK for external reasons, and not just because you're abusing the system.

MysterQ1 votes

But there are ways to counter abuse. Just saying people might abuse it don't fix it is a terrible way to look at problems.

DeathBurst1 votes

Who said Riot doesn't look at problems? They do. They didn't put THAT solution in place because this is a bad solution that would do more harm than good, that's all.

You want a proof that they are looking for solutions? Remake was implemented. Yeah, it's not perfect, there is still work to do. And Riot is currently doing it. But your suggestion is a bad one that wouldn't actually work in practice.

MysterQ2 votes

I m not complaining at Riot at this point. I am complaining at the community who supports Riot blindly 110% for no reason besides no clue why.

There is a problem. The community should be vocal about drawing attention to problems. And everytime a user says "not a problem, deal with it" is just another reason for Riot to stall addressing something.

DeathBurst1 votes

Except that I, for one, isn't supporting Riot blindly. And very few people actually are doing that.

And no one said "not a problem, deal with it". The post from Weathered you originally replied to was actually saying: "your suggestion will create more problems than it'll solve", not "AFK is not a problem". And your reply was "well, then solve that other problems too", without offering even the beginning of a viable idea. I'd argue it's better to not introduce those other problems in the first place, and directly find a good solution for the AFK problem. Which is totally different form supporting Riot 110%.

How would you know they are abusing and not just getting mad or having a connection issue? There isn't a viable way to specifically target people abusing the system because of how large scale the game is and how many possibilities there are.

It takes a pretty dedicated friend to help anyone appreciably climb the ladder by abuse.

1 win = 25LP (very high amount). Assume 50/50. It would take two disconnects just to get into series. We assume no abuse allowed in series. But 50/50 just say they win. WOOO now instead of B5 they are B4. 4 more games, 2 more disconnects. Series WOOOO B3. 4 more games. 2 more disconnects. Series WOOOO B2.

6 disconnects in a PERFECT streak to just climb within the same tier still. You won't be getting some abusing all the way up to Plat or Diamond unless their friend is really just disgustingly nice. Even then how can a system not catch a guy with a 100% WR (always duo'd with a disconnector). Even then he can never play solo for fear of dropping back down. Even then his friend needs to somehow keep making new accounts that aren't punished by the system or that are in 1 tier of his current tier.

EVEN THEN. WHO CARES if one guy is boosting himself up. Yes it sucks for anyone who gets him on their team. But there are NO REAL LIFE PRIZES for most people. If someone wants to waste their time boosting with this method, they could easily find another way to boost as well. The system can be disabled at higher ranks or whatever to deal with any challengers who may abuse it. Note, the winning side should still get LP. And his teammates shouldn't lose LP. So even if the system is being abused by these two/one guys. The other players are not severely punished at all. They just move onto the next game,

It takes a pretty dedicated friend to help anyone appreciably climb the ladder by abuse.

It doesn't take a dedicated friend. It takes two like-minded people who take turns AFK'ing, one game each. We're gonna win? Let's win. We're gonna lose? Alice goes AFK and takes a loss, Bob loses nothing. Yet another win? Cool. Yet another loss? Now Bob goes AFK and Alice avoid loss. In the end? 2W - 1L for each of them, instead of 2W - 2L. And if it's a full 5-man premade, they can all avoid 4 fifth of their losses. So if you want to punish AFKs enough to avoid 5-man abusing that system, you need to demote an AFK a full division every time it happens. People would scream.

You didn't think about all of that? Yeah, of course, that's why it's Riot's job, not yours, no problem. But precisely because it's their job, you should trust them a little more. That doesn't mean supporting them 110%. But if you think there is an obvious solution to a long standing problem, it's probably because your solution doesn't work.

MysterQ1 votes

None of that matters.

Alice and Bob on main accounts trying to boost each other. (Ridiculous to not use alts) +25 LP on those 2 wins = 50 LP, fair enough. 0 LP lost we are being extremely generous afterall. Now both accounts have 1 disconnect. If they are 50/50 in WR, then that means they will both get one more disconnect to 100LP. 100LP, 2 disconnects each, 100% WR. Into series. Disconnects don't carry in series. Lets be generous, they win 2/1.

That is 6 wins, 1 loss, 4 total disconnect (2each). That is a lot of games FOR ONE tier or whatever. Not to mention as they climb if they don't deserve to be there they won't maintain 50/50. As they climb they won't be getting 25 LP. As they climb they will be punished for all those disconnects EVEN WITH the current system.

OH WAIT. They disconnected. 100LP from 4 wins, 2 disconnects = NOT 100LP anymore. More like 70Lp. Now they have to win TWO more games, which means ONE more disconnect. Which means someone else has to win another to get into series.

No matter how much you try to say it works out. It just doesn't without a ridiculous amount of devotion. Yes some people can abuse the system. Deal with them. But the point of the game is to have fun. And I (as well as others) don't like being punished because we got an unlucky disconnect.* And yes you can use that last line against me if you want. But one disconnect is different from an account multiple disconnecting.

DeathBurst1 votes

They don't have a 100% winrate unless you count disconnects and defeats separately. And they need more than 4 wins to get to 100 LP since they lose LP when they disconnect.

And if you think that 11 games is a lot for one division, well, I hope you don't intend to climb this season. If you grind games without cheating, you're closer to 20-25 games by division, and even then you need a 55%+ winrate. If you're close to a 50% winrate, you need dozens of games to climb a division.

OH, wait, you actually realized your math is wrong. Well, good job. Still, the basic scheme I described allows 2 people to ignore half their losses, while only AFK'ing one every 4 games on average. That would take a long time for them to get punished at this rate. If you don't think that's a serious, and really easy to pull out, abuse, well I'm sorry but that's obviously not the majority opinion here, and more importantly it's not Riot's opinion either.

Because the matchmaking system only cares about win/lose. Prevents possible abuse. Like your duo partner quits anytime you're losing so your account never loses IP. Etc.

Well, if players didn't lose LP when someone on their team left the game, then if they were losing they might resort to bullying some player in hope that he or she ragequits.

RookPusher1 votes

It isn't. BUt life isn't fair. Be thankful you lost 21 LP and didn't, I don't know, get cancer or something. There are worse things that could happen man. You're right to be angry, but there are bigger battles.

MysterQ1 votes

Boy I am glad your brother died and you didn't get cancer instead. But life isn't fair dawg, at least you are ok.

What?

Riot doesn´t give two shits about this game anyway, therefor inventing lackluster "fixes" for system abuse.
