Ability text for Swain

Swain has 2 damage over time abilities. The text on one gives you the amount of damage per second ( Over the next 3 seconds, the target takes X magic damage per second), and on the other, it gives you the total amount of damage over the duration of the ability (Swain afflicts his target for X magic damage over 4 seconds).

I know it's pretty simple math, but it's hard for me to compare apples to oranges in the middle of a fight to see how much damage they might do together. Is there any way to simplify so they both display the same type of damage being dealt?
