top laners to learn

Rioski··1 votes·557 views

I've decided to try climbing through the ranks just playing top lane (whenever i can get it) and I;m trying to decide on champs to concentrate on. so far i main Irelia and have Nasus and Malphite as counter/when the team composition calls for it. Anyone have a good suggestion for one last champ to round it out to cover the team/counterpicking gaps?

Ryze is a really strong pick right now.

He isn't horrible early game, ranged, amazing lategame, great duelist and lots of waveclear with his ultimate that also gives some increased stats like spellvamp

None of counters are viable top laners so he's pretty solid right now

...are all quite strong at the moment. If you enjoy playing any of those champs, I'd suggest picking them up.

Mundo is always a solid pick, especially if you're against a double AP comp as it means you can build SV first, which Mundo loves. He can farm safely with his cleavers, and is the best scaling late game tank in the game. Swain is a good top lamer, too. Kind of like a Ryze but with a bit weaker of an early game. You don't see him much anymore but I always enjoy Shen when I play him. Can farm safely with his q, has global presence, is a great tank, and his taunt is amazing at keeping enemies locked up.

Irelia and Ryze are #1 for me, AD/AP respectively.

Outside of that, there are a lot of viable options... I'd get a champ for each role though, AD/AP Offensive/Defensive, Tank, and Split-Push.
