There's also Xerath with free mana on his autos! Except that it's not free because his mana costs are balanced around this and are inflated. Ryze Q cost doubled.

?

they did this so ryze uses W on minions to get mana back which would leave him vulnerable to all ins

though i think it shouldn't give mana back against champions

Yes it is absolutely late game mage influence that makes early game bot lane snowball meta absolutely fucking retarded. Yeah. Right.

Instead of Phreak doing eSports hype shit get him back on the balance team. I played wc3 dota and have played with lol since beta. This game is out of fucking whack. Instead of having an endless congo line of interns destroying it, get the guy who designed the original game to fix it. He had a great idea of balancing champions that carried league to what it is now. The problem is that he's a figurehead for the premium content salespeople instead of the guy who knows what mobas are supposed to be. He invented the fucking genre. Get him back in the design chair.

They also doubled the cost on his Q, which is pretty significant.

I think if they made it so it was only mana regained after using it on a champion it would create a vulnerability for Ryze because he used his only cc early on purely for mana and while that is on cooldown you can take advantage of it.

I mean, ryze is one of the most spammy mages in existence. Plus, his Q's mana cost doubled at max rank and his E has a shorter cooldown, which means he'll burn through his mana even faster than before.

These mana changes are such a bad idea. i don't care much about them gutting the doran's ring, and other starting items, but reducing the effectiveness of fully completed items and destroying individual champ's mana pools seems just too much and making late game much worse for all mages seems a little unfair, since mages inherent weakness is the fact they pop like bubbles when the enemy finaly gets to them, and their spells are the only thing to keep enemies at bay.

i think this change is just going to just make mages less opressive in ARAM...but i don't think the balance changes should be done around that game mode~

Honestly...if the objective is not being contested...you shouldn't make mages starve to even need it...you should just make the objective more appealing to get, that's such a backwards logic and solution to the problem. Making Ocean Drake and Blue Buff more valuable assets is clearly the right solution. "My food is not tasty...i need to make everyone in town starve to death so that they will eat it!" That's what they're doing instead of a more sensible "i need to improve the quality of my food." conclusion most people would arrive at.

"Mages should run out of mana in prolonged team fights." And why aren't tanks losing out armor and many of them keep endless sustain? Why ADCs, Skirmishers and Divers never run out of auto attacks with their consistent damage and on-hit effects? Some champs don't even HAVE mana as a resource they need to manage. Why mages are the only ones who need to become defenseless as a prolonged fight goes on? This is not very fair balancing.

Then again...my opinion can be a bit skewered cause mages are my favorite type of champions to play, so take my points with a pinch of salt, but i fail to see how this would improve gameplay.

I feel it's somewhat counterintuitive to release the current manaflow band - which increases maximum mana and mana regen upon quest completion and then try to increase base mana regen while lowering the total mana bar.

What will end up happening is the majority people will invest into item 3070 asap with a item 1056 / item 2033 and play passively as you'd not have the damage to kill your lane opponent and keep farming wave > wraiths [small] > wave > wraith (big) until they can afford to buy item 3020 item 3916 to have some dueling power. The minority imo will see this as an opportunity to play champions like Zed Leblanc Ahri Katarina and instantly go for item 3134 / item 3020 +item 3916 to kill their passive lane opponent that can only damage creeps.

Ryze will definitely still be a mage who invests into RoA / Archangel and mana will still be a non-issue [for everyone] as long as the new manaflow band exists.

But they increased his mana costs on Q and E a shit ton.... jesus this board will circlejerk things so hard they refuse to look at things outside a vacuum

Say one thing do another it's the patented riot rope a dope where they throw out a fist but end up punching themselves.

GorillazNtheMyst4/19/2018, 1:45:21 PM1 votes

SERIOUSLY. Obviously they would never touch their precious Ryze. I knew there'd be some BS compensation for him in there somewhere. Meanwhile, he'll still just rush Tear and Catalyst, be unkillable, and burst me in three shots because I can't get away from his mobility or endless root, and not be in the least bit affected by these changes to mana.

5050BS4/19/2018, 2:52:30 PM1 votes

He can regain 575 mana on a ~5.5s CD? at full build

notice me Sin pi4/19/2018, 6:24:25 PM1 votes

they apparently dont wanna nerf him completely yet. They nerfed his mana costs, gave him mana refund, and obviously waiting for next patch to remove his mana refund. Kinda similar to Sejauni-ing a champ.

CasterGilgamesh4/19/2018, 7:48:36 PM1 votes

i LOL'ed at the people who dont get this is just a meme we fucking know they increased his mana cost let us laugh damn it!
