Hi! I'm ShadowMitsumi and level 29 on NA. I am a main mid laner.

Currently, I'm realizing that it's either I'm bad, or just everyone's way better. I reached level 29 a while ago, but whenever I play PvP (draft or blind), I always mess up my lane. Normally, I ward frequently and last hit, but it seems that I lose my lane too quickly. Because of school, I usually can only play on weekends, but I play co-op with my noob friends for practice. Does anyone have tips? Is it okay to be aggressive in the early game? It seems that every time I queue up, there's that one toxic player. All that one toxic player does is call me bad. Most matches, I start off 0/2/0 because of my aggressiveness. But if someone could give me tips for mid, please do! Been a bit scared to play PvP because of me messing up my lane and toxic players. Please check out my match history linked, and see what's been happening. I'd like tips! Thanks!

So you aren't even level 30 yet and you are thinking about stuff? Good on ya m8! :)

Im no diamond or anything, but I can share a bit with ya. Im a top lane main, so its a solo lane. Def some similarities.

To answer your specific question: Aggression, just as much as passive play, has a time and place. Some minor tips for when playing aggressive:

  1. Watch your opponents behavior. If you are successfully bullying someone in lane, they will probably play fairly passive. Expect a gank if they suddenly change their play to be more aggressive as it is usually a reaction to the jungler being near by.

  2. Look to roam. If you don't feel like you can successfully kill your opponent, either because they are better than you or they are playing extremely safe, look for good times to leave the lane and gank. For example, if you have much better wave clear than they do, push it to turret and then back off. BONUS: Act as though you are going to back, but then stop and move out of their vision. They will think you backed and their team will not suspect a gank from you if you roam. Works less as you get higher up, but this is a great tactic for low elo. Main thing though, if you arent getting it done in your lane, get it done somewhere else. Then return to lane and farm.

  3. Wards. You say you are doing this pretty well in your opinion. My opinion is it can always be better. Get an early pink ward and ward the side bush near (but not in) river at the jungle entrance so you can see a good portion of the river. Use your trinket on opposite side lane bush and you have some pretty decent coverage to avoid ganks.

  4. Don't die. This seems silly to say, but its important. Make your first primary goal to die less than 5 times a game if at all possible. Fewer deaths is lots less gold and xp for your opponents.

That should be a decent start for ya. Hope this helps. Keep on playing and if you want you can add me in game and I can share more with you. Good luck on the rift!

It is okay to be aggressive in the early game. If you can be aggressive and secure an early lead, a kill, or shove them out, you can gain an advantage that if played correctly can set the tone of the lane in your favor for the rest of its duration. However, you have to have a reason for it. A player cannot just play aggressive because they wanted to play aggressive that game. What you need to do is to find a reason for you to be aggressive; look for things like if you are ahead, if they just made a mistake, if you have an item advantage, if you hit a power spike, that sort of thing. You also would need to look for these again, but from the opposite perspective, like whether or not your opponent has just hit a power spike or has some other kind of thing they can use to gain leverage over you.

How you need to look at it is this. It's just normal games. You're learning; It's practice!

The results don't matter, you're just there to have fun and to learn something so don't worry about "messing up your lane" or how well you do or anything like that. They are practice games, you are there to take chances make mistakes and get messy. And if some guy gets bent out of shape because he somehow doesn't get this and is being real obnoxious, you can press [Tab] and there will be a little speaker in champion tab. You press it, you mute him, you don't even have to read it anymore. Don't let a few guys being jackasses ruin this for you.

Thank you!! I was doing really good in matches before I hit around level 27, then my win rate went flop.

It maybe that since you are close to level 30, you are being matched with more level 30 players who have more experience with the game... just speculating. Either way, it's like what Shahamut wrote: streaks happen, it happens to everyone. Just try not to sweat it.

I did check out your match history and there are more things I could tell you but I don't want to leave you (an even bigger) wall of text. If you would like, you are welcome to add me and I can answer questions, coach and whatever. I enjoy figuring things out about the game and talking about it, but I haven't felt up to playing League competitively for a while so an opportunity to do more with the game would be good for me as well.
