Viktor Rework Discussion

When playing as Viktor now I will often have ppl say things along the lines of "The new rework made Viktor super OP! Last game I saw a Viktor deal over 1000 damage with one ability!" While this might be better then having people rage at you for picking Viktor, it is operating under a major misconception. The rework really didn't make Viktor stronger overall, his win percentage dropped from 50%-52% to 47%-49%. Instead it just shifted his damage from early game lane bully to late game monster.

Where before the rework for 1000 gold Vitkor could get 45 AP and a guaranteed 30% increase in laser damage, he now gets 20 AP, a dodgeable 40% increase in laser damage, and 1 AP per level. In addition his Q received an early game nerf as well, reducing lvl 1 damage by 20, requiring you to be withing aa range to deal full damage, and removing the practicality of maxing Q early. Ult total damage at level 6 was also reduced to 360 from 430.

Of course to compensate for this his late game received a buff. His total Q damage was increased from 260 to 330 and from 60% AP to 70% AP and given a speed boost that can actually be utilized. His W and R also received more utility, and his E damage was increased a little IF you can land the full ability. At full build with lich bane he is now probably the strongest mage in the game, the problem however is that you rarely reach full build, especially now that is passive costs 3000 gold to fully augment instead of 1000.

Another issue I see is that before the rework he gained some of his power from the unknown. No one played him and no one really knew how to play against him. Add in his strong early game and you had a very potent combination. Since the rework people are a bit more familiar with his ability set and are less likely to underestimate him.

I feel the rework was well planned and executed but he needs a small buff, preferably to his early game Q damage to bring him back to an even win percentage and allow more variety in early game strategy.

Its more like His early damage is pretty decent, and his late game is 100 to 0 any champ. the thing with victor is that his damage, no matter where in the game he is, is always good. His augmented laser can easily take half the hp out of most, if not all champions who arent building tanky. So yea, people typically compensate a bad early for a good late but he's at a good early fro a beast late. and saying that he has mana issues isnt an excuse for why his early isnt that good. Every mid laner has mana issues. But mana issues dont typically come into play when its late game and your full build with over 2000 mana.
