Finding Taric a new home

Right now, Taric is outclassed by almost all supports and lacks identity (We know he is Truly Outrageus, I mean identity as a support), so I came up with a rework idea that tryes to make him the Protection support and has a easy to understand kit for the First Time support players.

Taric, the Gem-Knight

Movement speed lowered to 325 from 340

Passive - Gemcraft (Reworked) After casting spell, Taric's next autoattack deals 30(+10 per Level)(+20% bonus Armor) bonus magic damage and reduces the target's armor and magic resist by 12 (+1 per level) for 2 sec. Can only happen once each 1.5 sec.

The passive change is to hive him more power (210 bonus damage than before) and retain his armor shattering identity somewhere, as shatter no longer does. He has lost its 2 sec. CD reduction, but Cooldown have been greatly reduced in compensation.

Q - Imbue Range: 625 Cost: 70/90/110/130/150 Mana Cooldown: 14/13/12/11/10 sec.

Taric imbues target allied champion and Himself with the power of earth, healing both champions for 80/115/150/185/220(+40%AP)(+5% Bonus Health). If Taric targets himself for Imbue, he is healed for 120/172/230/283/340(+60%AP)(+7.5 Bonus Health) instead.

This is now his main and basic ability. Althought this would make a somewhat stall line, without the mana donation of Soraka and lack of gap closer its more think to recover from poke. Less base heal, more scaling and better to self heal.

W - Shatter Passive: Taric gains 14/18/22/26/30(+10% AP) bonus Armor. Cost: 50/55/60/65/70 Mana Cooldown: 10 sec. Range: 225/600 (Aura) Active: Taric shatters his gemstones, losing his passive bonus armor and dealing 80/105/130/155/180(+25% AP) magic damage and stunning enemy champions by 0.5 sec. in area. While shatter is on cooldown, allied champions gain 7/9/11/13/15(+5% AP) bonus armor.

It no longer Shatters (Sorry guys!) , it is no longer a crazy AoE armor bonus. Instead, it has a great armor passive with both an offensive and defensive active. He has to choose between being more in danger, or deal damage and help his allies. The scaling mana cost, low damage scaling and Passive ratio are meant to make this skill a 1 point ability until late game

E - Dazzle Range: 375 Cost: 65 mana Cooldown: 16/14/12/10/8 (No longer a proyectile) Taric Dazzles target champion, dealing 80/120/160/200/240(+30%AP)(+15% bonus Armor) damage and stunning it for 1.5 seconds.

It no longer has crazy range, so it may remain Powerfull and cheap. Althought it is a nerf, it is now intended to stun enemy marksmen in lane once they or your marksmen (Varus, Ashe, Jinx) engaged, making lane easier. In late game is an assasin stomper, to protect your marksman.

R - Radiance Passive: Taric gains 15/25/35 bonus Ability Power and Attack Damage. Cost: 100 Mana Cooldown: 80/60/40 sec Range: 225/600 Active: Shatters unleashes the power of his gems, dealing 175/250/325(+60% AP) and gaining a radiance aura for 8/10/12 seconds. Taric and champions on the radiance aura gain 15/25/35 bonus Ability Power and Attack Damage.

No much changes. It has higher cooldown and power earlier, its a little bit weaker late game but has a very small cooldown. Taric gains some power with the passive, and has higher range.

I hope you appreciate it!

EDIT ; Number tweaks!

  • Passive now deals more damage early, can only occur each 1.5 sec.
  • Imbue heals more and has lower cooldown, higher mana cost
  • Shatter mana cost decreased, damage increased and now has a 0.5 sec. AoE stun
  • Dazzle range and damage increased, no longer a projectile and its now instant. Higher CD earlier, less late.

Now Taric can properly protect the ADC! Great Heal, 2 Stuns, 2 Auras , Defense shedder and high damge to make those assasins fear Taric. It doesnt provide sustain, nor initiaon or high AoE crowd control. He just sits in front of (or behind) the marksman and makes sure it provides.

I don't really get why Taric can't have an AoE Dazzle, where any enemy champion facing him is blinded by light. It would be the opposite of Nocturne's in that the user will only see all white or sparkles on that part of the screen.

If Taric ever lost his aoe armor I would stop playing him

I dont know. For one, i love the armor shred on taric right now. The other thing is that I think the E and the R more than they are the W. The big reason that the other tank supports are played more than Taric is that they have aoe cc, which Taric doesn't.

I had a very good week of support with Taric when he was free. Against Thresh, Nami, Sona, Janna, and Morganna. He works fine, even if he isn't at the top of the list. Just because a character isn't constantly winning you games doesn't mean they demand a rework. Taric shreds enemy armor while boosting his allies and increasing their damage with R. He protects he ADC by building up their defenses, popping a stun here and there to keep them on their toes. Just my personal experience.
