theorycrafting how to play against pyke (Support)

short answer play Braum

long answer Pyke is an assassin at least early game so he wants to all in and to do that he will need strong stats early and to scare poorly, I expect two different pyke builds to arise one that builds item 3147 and tries to roam and a more tanky one with item 3401 and focuses on snowballing lane for the pike that builds more traditional support items he has use everything to go onto the enemy adc meaning he doesnt have a free escape unless he saves invisibility or flashes but your shield counters his clone and your passive means once jumps in you should be able to stun him in minions and finish him off

for the one that is constantly looking to snowball other lanes treat him like you would a bad Bard orShen and attempt to all in the enemy ADC when he shows somewhere else, which is something that braum is also decent at with good cc and lots of health crash the minions into tower and tank for your adc

the 3rd reason is that pykes ult doesn't execute off percent health but on a flat amount and you have insanely high health early and build almost all items that contain health making you one less target for resets

I dunno if you guys agree with me let me know what you think

Ok guys lets be honest. I am an Alistar mid one trick and this patch will be so much more fun for Alistar with Pyke in it.

Or... play blitz or thresh and just cc him to death.

I expect Pyke to go item 3147 item 3812 item 3065item 3742 item 3814 item 1001 Why be an assassin when you can be Tank Ekko MK 2 AD form?

Even though you don't get the health the ad and resistances will allow you to drain tank.

Actually,we were trying to find counters for Pyke with my friend and we found out that best counters areTryndamere Zed Akali .These currently have best opportunity to win against him because of the invisibility and invincibility. Also good picks areRengar and Khazix .I know alot of people will tell me that what I am saying is nonsense, but hey.Try one of them*[slayer-pantheon-thumbs]*

Seems like good advice so far! Also remember to keep the bushes warded/guarded in-lane so he can't just dip into them to trigger his passive.

I'm impressed. If you can muster up enough gold for early item 3147 as a support without gold gain item and without stealing adc's cs, then hat's off from me, you're a badass ;]

Wards, traps, and bait I'm guessing.

Personally I figure he will just be played jungle, but assuming he does support I would think Bard would fair pretty well against him.

because Pyke's passive only works when he is out of sight from enemy champs, he will have to blow his w (which I imagine will have a long cool down) or walk away from lane to heal up, plus because of his hidden part of his passive (see link at bottom) he will be very squishy early-mid at least for bard.

the strat in essence is to poke Pyke, then when he backs off to go heal up some of his health all in the semi isolated adc

the reason Bard is good for this is because of his lovely electrocute burst to chunk Pyke after landing a q stun. Then when he starts to go recharge the half of his health he's missing, you go on the adc, (this wouldn't work nearly as well if its a Trist)

As an added bonus Bard could predict Pyke's ult with his own and save a losing team fight

The Biggest problem with this is Pyke would probably have the superior all in.

The same general idea would go for Zilean and Morgana. Mid lane mage "supports" should also work on this idea

(this is totally bias because I'm a Bard player but ya know)

Pyke should have a pretty awful go of things simply because off cc and because he will find it hard to have survivability. When the jungler ganks however Pyke will be a huge impact.

Pretty much like this:

All in CC Supports: Can out engage, CC and peel for ADC

Poke Supports: Use above strat

Hook Supports: once again little survivability gonna get hooked and die

"Protect till I die" Supports: Pyke should do alright against they usualy only have 1 cc move and it isn't horribly long, should they blow that on Pyke it wouldn't be awful, Poke will still be a pain but they won't have the same all in after it that the others will.

I don't have high hopes for Pyke because I still think he will be a jungler for sure, and supporting he will get shut down fairly easily, but I also thing he could have some crazy outplay potential and his kit looks sooooooo satisfying, and as a Bard player i'm for sure gonna pick him up. These are just my thoughts and depending on his cooldowns and how good/bad his scaling is these could be awful ideas.
