Discussion on the Marksmen class

So someday I plan to play ranked, and I do not want to be reported and take penalty because the community of players don't like me doing things outside of the box. I've always thought that marksmen, or what people called adcs back in season 3, were just weak characters. To clarify weak and avoid people from saying the typical "but adcs do the most damage", marksmen are squishy naturally, having low health and health per level. They also have little to no damage in their abilities compared to assassins, mages, and even bruiser tanks such as garen, darius, sion. The idea behind a marksmen is that you will do damage with auto attacks only when you start getting some very expensive items with a long wait in build path. I just wanted to declare that if riot and the community is going to punish me for playing something that is not played bot lane conventionally in ranked, then I ask that at least riot change marksmen. Not just do a tiny little rework but actually do a huge redesign of marksmen in general. Here are some ideas to think about.

  1. I understand some marksmen have cc or mobility or high burst. But all of it is lack luster as ashe and varus must waste an ultimate for their cc, ashe's slow's mean nothing against gap closers. Lucian's dash is great but unlike most dashes from other classes, it deals no damage. Look at wukong, irelia, fiora, master yi, ekko the list goes on, all of their dashes deal a SIGNIFICANT amount of damage to squishy targets. Marksmen tend to not have a basic ability that instantly by itself do a high burst of damage similar to other champs. a single q from xerath, w from veigar, q from zed hurts a lot more than a single auto attack from most marksmen.
  2. I think marksmen ranged auto attacks don't compensate enough because most champions in league now have some sort of gap closer or high crowd control to stop or get to the squishy adc. It only takes a few spells to kill a marksmen as they are squishy while when they auto attack you, they have to hit you several times to finally take you down but giving opponents enough time to react and focus fire on the marksmen.
  3. So ideas to think about is that marksmen should get one of these things. Marksmen should either have high health per level similar to assassins or even tanks and have their ranged auto attacks compensate for lack of burst in their ability damage, or have them have abilities that actually do a lot of damage as well instead of very little and relying on only auto attacks which do nothing early on, or give them some kind of buff where they gain more ad, armor pen(lethality), or range per level. Garen's e can shred 20 percent total armor along with black cleaver making him effectively cut 50 percent total armor away while marksmen get a crappy last whisper that only cuts bonus armor and not base armor. Maybe make items that are exclusive only to marksmen so you don't have a last whisper that works for zed and talon, but works for say an ashe or caitlyn.

In conclusion, I just feel that marksmen are lacking too much and if I am forced to play it in case of auto fill etc, then make the class good and not a feels bad class. I love playing marksmen because they are cool, love playing ezreal, cait, ashe, vayne etc but it just feels bad when I am fed or highly farmed and can still die or take huge amounts of damage from an irelia who lost lane but teleports bot lane and rekts me with her bot lane. She shouldn't be a threat but because she got solo exp and she is naturally tanky with higher base damage in abilities and get so much more bang for her buck in itemization that I do, she just beats me. I've had too many times that I would lose a 1v1 against a support where that support just has a sightstone and health item and beat me in a duel where I have infinity edge. I know infinity edge shouldnt be rushed but even with the appropriate build of bf sword, and attack speed item I would still lose or take huge amounts of damage from a braum who is building tanky support. Then what is the point of damage when you don't deal damage and people build tanky and still do damage because you are squishy. Literally why the hell buy damage items? So riot, I ask that you please look and listen to my one statement throughout this whole rant. "Are marksmen really justified to be so squishy, have low base stats, have low base damage in abilities, low mobility or crowd control, all just because they have ranged auto attacks that are mediocre unless they have a lot of expensive items?". Another note is that, assassins do high damage with their auto attacks too and not just their abilities with items, high auto attack damage is not exclusively for marksmen only.

Imo, Marksman aren't weak. They are finally in line with what the class should be like. In RPG's traditionally, Marksman aren't these guys that shrek everything like something else. They are more of a consistent damage threat that provides spotting and utility for the team. You could opt to go for huge amounts of shekkin sustained damage but ti was not what they were meant for.

I had felt since the begging of the season that Utility Mrkman like Varus and Ashe were doing plenty fine, and this is because their utility if always useful and they don't need to rely on stupid amounts of damage to be relevant, making them the more consistent picks as marksman. only in the late game does their damage start to ramp up to ridiculous levels, and even then they aren't really soloing anything.

Late game powercarries are taking a while to ramp up, which is the way it should be. and Lane bullies are bullying them in lane.

As far as I am concerned with botlane, it is the most balance it has ever been...ignoring the whole botlane fiestas due to first tower gold and the fortification ofc...

The mistake was calling them ADC's in the first place as it set up a false precedent for what the class should have ever been about and expected to do, as it was always inherently more of a supportive class and role from it's inception.

Yes! adcs are justifiably squishy especially when they get that lifesteal some adcs are hell to actually lock down and kill eg Vayne . Tbh it sounds like you just want tankier adcs... and I support you! Of course we understand that those tankier adcs would have weaker damage output.

The main reason that adc has fallen of this season is because they lack class DIVERsity (get it) meaning that if a certain playstlye or class begins wrekin' adcs there will be close to no one to stop them, and thus we have apc ziggs 2017, but at the same time if certain adcs find a superior build then the usual that works for only them, they automatically skyrocket to the top of the marksmen role because everyone else can only use the inferior build, hence we had armor pen lucian and MF 2016.
