New Rank System
Good Morning,
Don't get me wrong, I am probably one of the happiest person right now because of that new update coming up concerning some changes on how the ranking system works.
As a guy who is hardstuck Silver 2, but my top/mid lane gameplay is high gold or even low plat (based on performance against these type of players), I can't wait to finally be able to climb in my main roles.
My only concern is not necessarely for me but for other people.
At a certain level and rank in the game, even if you got Challenger by playing Support only, you still need to have a certain understanding of how the game works.
That being said, I am concern that only the position you are playing will change rank...
Example: I become Diamond 2 as a toplaner (the dream) but I want to start playing a role I only played once in the beginning of the season and I got placed in Silver 2. Midlane lets say.
Yes it is not the same position and the gameplay is a bit different, but I think that even if it is not my main role, because of my basic understanding of the game (this is all hypothetycal) I would basicaly be better than Silver players. Which will not be fair for them or for me if I face a Diamond player in this situation.
All I am saying is that, if you have (example) a role that is very High tier (Plat, Diamond or even Master), your other roles should not be lower than a certain amount of tier. My main role is Dimond 3, then my other role should climb with this one to be at a maximum tier difference of (this is only an example) 5-6 tier lower (Plat 3-4).
I know you plan to probably give bonus LP in those situation but the following problem is still an issue.
The gameplay is so different between tiers that having to big of a dismatch between 2 roles could make a climb nearly impossible. Yes you could carry, but certain games mechanics does not work in low elo because players are not used to them. So you basically have to lower your gameplay in order to climb which could kill the willingness of a lot of people.
Also, I think that what kills the ranking system the most is players who are playing new champs for the first time in ranked. I think before being allowed to pick a champ in ranked games one should have played that champ in Normal to at least have it Level 2 or 3 before being allowed to play it in ranked. This way, he/she would have a basic understanding and will actually be able to play it better than if its his first time.
Thank you to consider these observations.
Continue the good work and thank you for creating such an amazing game.
Best regards,
Isaac
