Hi, Gnar is on sale right now and I have read that he is really hard to play and that he isn't worth buying. I usually play as Sivir and I don't know if I would like playing as him. Any thoughts??

I don't know who you've been talking to, but he's fine as is. You just have to get use to his passive and timings.

Gnar is kinda like sivir and vayne combined, but with a melee form(mega gnar). He isn't that mechanically challenging, but good Gnars can stomp games easily.
