She really isn't, you just need to learn how to play against her. She has many weaknesses but from what I've seen people just keep trying to straight up duel her and get stomped then come here and complain about it. This guide has helped me a LOT I'd recommend sharing it.

Youre posting on the forums. The circlejerk of Riven hate is far too strong to try and go against. No doubt this post will be downvoted into oblivion by all of the mindless hate.
Her pros outweigh her cons by far, and if you look up all the exploitable bugs that help Riven like animation canceling and the ward trick you'll see why the community hated her for so long. Not to mention short cooldowns and no source of energy.
The thing is she doesn't have exploitable weaknesses by the majority of the game. If you are ranged generally you do not have enough escapes to run away from her. If you are melee you are generally prone to having to skirt the edge of her range unless you have a silence and tank plus damage to back you up.
Darius does well because he has a DoT which helps abuse Riven's weakness. Cho and Garen do well because they can silence her to force trades in their favor. There is only 1 real match up against Riven where skill means everything and that is Irelia. And both snowball on their first kill. Gnar can sometimes beat Riven but his hop on a 20s CD makes it really hard to keep away all that long because she just has to try again.
The point is the tactics to Riven are to somehow deny her CS or kill her. But she meanwhile is zoning you from the farm and choking you out unless you counter her. And unless you have a hyper gank jungler like Lee or Amumu it is near impossible to catch her out.
I know how to beat Riven, I just want her stun+dashes to be nerfed so she can't run away from me even after I bought Ice gauntlets, a Frozen mallet, and Boots of swiftness just to catch her and still fail at catching her 'cause she can spam her dashes and still be faster than a Warwick with an active maxed out blood sense and swift boots...

The fact there's a whole other guide on how to defeat a Riven says a lot.
