What mid should I main?
What is a relatively safe, rarely banned midlane that can carry games? Is vlad any decent in this meta?>

veigar
veigar
Tank Veigar after RoA is really strong If you keep up the q farm.
Vlad is rarely banned right now, but he rides the buff/nerf waves pretty often, leading to times where he has a high ban rate.
Orianna has been a stable pick since I started in S2, with hardly any mentions in the patch notes or spikes in ban rate. Even when her pick rate's high, most people don't feel like banning her.
both are safe and do a lot of dmg mid to lane game
keep the suggestions coming friends
That depends on your play-style and what you like.
Do you want to punish your laner and steamroll with gold/farm advantage?
or
is a good choice.
Are you a roamer and like to gank often?
or
is a good choice.
Do you want to focus more on teamfights and deleting people?
or
is a good choice.
is good for counter picks and other things in general. Though, he is pretty good pick if you're really good at him.
is a pretty solid choice. He has good poke, burst, AOE damage, a strong defensive tool against ganks, and I don't remember the last time I saw him banned.
Ahri is very safe, rarely banned, and can carry. Also a current hot topic of debate. Enjoy.
Are you a zone control kinda guy? Then Orianna, the lady of clockwork, and the only good thing to come to mid besides Lux Talon and Viktor, is for you.
Talon is also pretty cool, as you can cut through terrain to get to fleeing enemies.
Narrowed down to ziggs or orianna. any advice?
Ziggs is good if you like skillshots. You can deal a pretty massive amount of damage, and you shred towers like Swiss Cheese. Ori's a safer pick, with a decently high skill ceiling, and fits well with most teamcomps. However, her early damage can feel a little meh, especially while learning to use her.

I would say it depends. If you are serious about maining just one, Orianna can do a lot more than ziggs while doing the massive AoE damage than ziggs is known for, but ziggs is kinda harder to mess up gives good results without much investment. So Orianna at her best > Ziggs, but the average Ziggs > Orianna. That's just my opinion.
Once you learn Orianna, she's like braindead easy it's just your skills as a player that needs improving, but you are definitely going to feed hard and ult yourself by accident the first few games while you learn to keep track of the ball
I think hands down the safest, most meta resistant champions unlikely to be either nerf or reworked (except for minor tweaks in damage here or there) would be none other than
and
. I think it's impossible to go wrong maining these two generalist. One leans more towards the assassin style while the other more team fight oriented. Neither has any glaring weakness that can't be made up for with the right sums and both fit easily in to almost every team composition. It's the reason why these two have the highest play rate of any midlaner, with neutral or positive winrates but negligible ban. They're safe and reliable. There's a reason why Orianna appears in LCS so often but we'll never see a nerf to her.
The are decent early, mid and lategame as long as they are played correctly. Orianna's ultility and ultimate is always going to make her useful ahead or behind while Ahri is easy to go at least even on because her ult can be used to engage or disengage, while still providing a lot of pick potential with her charm if she ever does fall behind.
Orianna. She hard carries teamfights which is needed alot in low elo and she can waveclear easily.
