Any tips on how to play against darius?

I embarrassingly lost lane pretty hard to darius as yorick and was wondering if there are any tips to fighting him. I know yorick is supposed to counter darius super hard but if i ever get close to him he just combos till im bleeding out like a pig.

Try running into his Q so the handle hits you instead of the blade.

Fighting against Darius, as anyone, is a baiting game. You need to bait out his abilities.

Bait his Q by walking towards him a bit or feigning to kill a minion, and turn around. Doing this should make him use his Q on nothing. This gives you a window to trade or CS. If he Q's, he'll also push the wave, which will keep you safe from junglers while making him vulnerable to your jungler.

As Yorick specifically, do this, and focus on last-hitting with Q to dig some graves. Once you have 4, raise them and sick them on Darius. You don't have to commit yourself necessarily. Just let your Mist Walkers claw at him for a while. He'll have to focus on them. If he misses CS, great. If he uses abilities to kill them, then he's burning his Mana and giving you a safe window to farm.

If you manage to get either item 3078 item 3047 OR item 3025 item 3068, you should be able to duel him post-6. When fighting Darius, use the movement speed from landing E to get really close to him. Like, uncomfortably close. When you actually want to fight him, it's important to stay on the inside radius of his Q, for the lessened damage and no passive stacks.

Before ever trying to engage a fight on him, though, always wait for him to use an ability. Bait his Q or E, or if he last-hits with W. If you ever want to disengage, it's as easy as trapping him in your W.

Sincerely, Someone who loves fighting against Darius and Riven Yorick Renekton

never getting caught counters him early

disengage counters him late

read his passive

actually read his passive

stop a moment to read his passive

READ IS DAMN PASSIVE

no really, don't panic or anything.. just read the passive, it will make your life much easier, read it and think a moment.

yes, read it and analyze it.

darius has a lot of hidden damage to the point people don't even realize how much commitment they are putting in to stand a certain range form him.

Additionally be sure to read his other passive on his E as well. Some don't see that for a long time, not sure why

dodge q and read passive

Don't bother fighting him early, just try to farm safely and bait his Q, do NOT get in range of his E or you are fucked. He's a lane bully just like Renekton and people (including me) always underestimate their early dmg and try to trade out of impatience

Thing is, if you're getting lane bullied as Yorick, you're completely fucking useless. Yorick's main strength is being oppressive as fuck to his enemy laner and making them want to kill themselves. His late game is shit- He's the exact polar opposite of what Old Yorick was.

Good. Maybe that will discourage you from playing him from now on.
