Regarding poor play.

Once upon a time Riot had a report option for poor performance, and they decided to remove it for reasons unknown to me. I think it's about time to reimplememt that function with a unique punishment for it. Make it only available in post ranked game lobbies. If you receive the report a large number of times in a short time frame implement scaling ranked bans. Say in a 24 hour period there are 10 ranked games played and you play poorly in 7 of them. (I feel a 70% threshold is fair) then you receive stage 1 of the punishment. A 24 hour ranked ban. They are still able to play Normal games or special game modes but would be unable to play ranked modes. After the punishment if they do no improve their play the consequence becomes longer with each punishment. It would help yo control boosting as well because boosted players perform poorly at higher levels.

but isn't someone playing well or someone playing badly completely subjective?

to a challenger, a plat player plays badly, but to a bronze that plat player plays well..

what if in an ADCs mind they are supposed to be focusing on farming, but you expected them to jump into a a small skirmish in the jungle. they thought that skirmish was a bad pick and you thought them focusing on farm was a bad choice..

you're both playing bad according to the other..

so, no. this is a horrible idea.

but see, that's my opinion, and you think it's a good idea, which is your opinion.. if there was a "report idea for being bad" button, i might press it, but you wouldn't..

Making one poor decision doesn't make you bad. Making consistent poor decisions does, and when you make poor decisions consistently game after game is where it causes problems in ranked. Everyone has bad games, trolls and people that are ranked higher than they should be have bad.games nearly every game

so someone is less skilled than you, so you think they should be punished for it? how are they ever going to practice and get better?

First, the unskilled report was mainly a placebo that was only there to make players feel better. IIRC it only slightly lowered a reported players MMR so it was worthless and Riot removed it.

Second, being bad at the game isn't against the rules. If someone is bad at the game they'll fall down the ladder. That's the punishment for not being good.

Third, your idea would increase boosting because people would noe buy boosts to make sure they dont get locked out of ranked.

Fourth, trolls would hella abuse that. They could just spam report everyone and get people temp banned from ranked. Bronze would become a fuster cluck.

The current ban system wouldn't work any diffrrently if it was based purely on volume of reports obviously the reports would need to be validated exactly like they are now and by someone boosting they would have to not play otherwise they would play poorly and get locked out. AND by not playing hwy would be demoted due to decay

It was based on volume of reports at one point and a good hunk of those reports were invalid because they were just from players feeling salty that someone didn't play the game the way they thought was best, e.g. picking Maokai top or giving up first blood. S'why the current system treats 2-9 reports as 1 as to not bog down the system with people using the report button to feel better.

LP decay doesn't exist until Plat. If someone goes on a losing streak, to avoid getting locked out of ranked they could hav someone boost their account to at least gold then never touch ranked again. They hav season rewards so why risk it.

And again, trolls would abuse this by reporting everyone. Eventually someone will get locked out of ranked for just being bad at the game. Bronze que times would skyrocket because of that change because 70% of Bronze players are unskilled.

We hav a system in place for sorting out unskilled players already. It's called a ranked ladder where good players are at the top while bad players sit at the bottom,
