Hi I'm a Thresh main stuck in bronze 4 any tips?

Hello everyone! I am an aspiring ranked player looking to go to a high elo! Why did I make this thread you ask, well I have a small problem. I am unable to get out of bronze 4 due to what I think is my lack of skill or not being able to fix a bad team. I'm not thinking I am this almighty thresh god who doesn't deserve to be in bronze 4 I'm asking higher elo players to give me tips and how to better myself. Currently these are my ranked stats with thresh and other supports I like to use. *as of well the responses I have recently got I shall start applying these to my overall understanding and practice of the game to those who gave me good advice and had the bravado to help me out I truly thank you this has in short, brightened my view of leage and my current skill level in the game thanks to those who helped and supported me with good criticism [slayer-pantheon-thumbs] PPS: to those who want to see how exactly my playstyle is with thresh I will be playing a game in about 5-10 minutes any friend requests i get around there will be accept for the education and analysis purposes on how to better my mechanics and gameplay toodles for now!

I would recommend not maining a support until you get out of bronze/low silver. You just really can't carry as a support in such low elos.

thresh has a very high skill cap and can potentially carry a game by setting up plays either with a good hook, flash ult, upsetting a devastating enemy cast with his flay or the survival or incoming of a team mate with his lantern. most people will agree he is an off tank and can become quite healthy. bc of this most enemies will not focus you. and bc they wont focus you I like to build his Runes a little bit different bc he has some really nice early game dmg and harass.

x9 armor seals x3 hybrid pen quints x9 hybrid pen marks x9 cdr glyphs

his masteries are gonna basically be tanky supp and I like to go with the Bond of Stone to help mitigate some dmg from my adc. ofc anytime you are playign supp you should be grabbing bandit as well.

as far as what to build it really depends on your situation and what is going on around you. ALWAYS get sightstone. sometimes its hard to choose between face of the mountain shield and the Eye of the Equinox but the shield can be very helpful especially in bronze when your team mates wont click on your lantern. Thresh is almost worthless when alone so try to stay with a teammate ideally your adc.

obviously im no pro but bronze 1 so you are going to have to take my advice with a grain of salt ;P I love to play thresh and did main him in supp for awhile back in season 4. right now healers are the real big deal in the support role namely sona and raka. They can carry even the worst teams by keeping them healthy and in the fight. I would also recommend only playing supp as your secondary so that you can actually achieve better rank due to your own skillset. I main jungle and climb that way. I would also recommend only playing passive aggressive(punish the enemy for their mistakes dont make your own mistakes by trying to push them out of lane) this will allow your adc to feel more secure within lane. builds trust and synergy.

Hate to say it, but you might just suck at playing thresh. Try other support, even the unconventional ones. Thresh is a play maker. You have to know when to go in. DOnt always go in on all the hooks u land. You must also understand your adc's power spikes as well as your team.

Don't play champs that require skill. simple i offer this to everyone regardless of elo this game doesnt need skill to climb up to plat after plat you need game knowledge to carry games and after diamond you then need some actual skill. Why play thresh when you can play broken ass Braum that can CC/Peel/engage/disengage/blockskillshots with little to no braincells whereas you play Thresh who needs a lot of skill to land his main cc which is his Hook and a short range cc beeing his flay which can be easily dodged and his ulti is easy to dodge aswell. I don't say you shouldnt try to improve but i'm saying that you should stick to this easy and braindead champs to climb faster your skill and game knowledge will improve as you rise anyway. I mean 2 years ago i couldnt play lee sin i picked him up recently after not touching him and his mechanics come out natural. ALL in all try and look for your mistakes when u die ask yourself WHY did i die there. when you miss a kill ask yourself how COULD I SECURE THAT. This way you will improve and ignore flamers i cant stress that enough and play as i mentioned all the bs no braincells champs to make your life easier untill you improve generally cause this game takes NO SKILL at least not now that you can stomp lane and the guy afk farms cause you dont do any meaningfull dmg to towers and you flipcoin a 5v5 late game

Honestly, the best advice I can give to any support main in the lower elos is to main another role that you can carry from. If you believe that you're far above the skill level of the players in most of your games, then you should be trying to carry instead of relying on them to do it.

I'd try learning 2 to 3 "safe" mid laners who aren't constantly banned (for example Ahri, Lissandra, Anivia) or 2 to 3 easy top laners (for example Darius, Maokai, Renekton) and try to carry with them. Then, when you think you've hit a bump in the road and can't seem to climb anymore, go into some normal games and practice on more basic (yet fundamental) mechanics, like last hitting minions, dodging skill shots, positioning in team fights and item builds. All of these will help you get better and they're not very hard to do at the lower elos.

Also, one thing I noticed about your support games is that you have a lot of deaths when you play supports like Thresh and Taric, which is fine. This is probably because you try to make risky engages or dive into fights to save your teammates. Two very important things to remember in any role are:

  1. Don't try to be a hero and make Godly solo plays unless you're positive you can get in, secure the kill, and get out.

  2. If a teammate gets caught and is going to die, let them die - don't dive in to save them just to die along with them.

Bronze 4 may seem like elo hell but when you're at the bottom, there's nowhere to go but up. So practice those simple mechanics on some easy, safe, reliable champs in normal games until you can transition them into ranked and I'm sure you'll start climbing quickly.

Im a Thresh main but Im in Gold not that high but could help a bit, So I looked through your account and there is something I noticed

You never have Sightstone item 2049 item 2045 Vision is important in this game
For some reason you build item 3003 which idk why so plz stop building that

Been in gold I don't see people using item 3222 on in effective manner cause neither do I, even vs CC teams so I wouldn't recommend that item even doe its useful

Runes: Your Rune page called ''Thresh'' is very diverse and has runes/sources Thresh doesn't require

Here's my Thresh or any Tanky support rune Pages I use

9x Attack DMG Red 9x HP Yellows 9x Magic Resistance Blues 3x Armor Quints

Let's go to Masteries If you're going 0/18/12 dont go Windspeaker because Thresh is not really is a shields/heal champion so go Thunderlords on him, keep in mind if you're going Thunderlords 0/18/12 you're a killer lane so go Ignite also

If you want the passive lane go 0/12/18 for Bond of Stone and get exhaust/ignite

Never use your Flay for dmg, always use it to deny a dash/escapes enemy such as Lucian Dash or Trist Jumps Shyvana Ult Leonas initiation dash
