Disconnections/Leaving the Game

I've had a couple games over the past few days where I was playing ranked and it was going pretty well for us 5v5. One of my teammates disconnects and all of a sudden it's 4v5. We play basically 20 more minutes a 4v5 game and we're actually doing pretty decent, not bad at all considering it's a 4v5. We ultimately lost tho because they have way more of an advantage gold, skills and otherwise. It would be so amazing if we didn't lost LP for a 4v5 because when the game ends his name is in red. If we play with a disconnect for at least 10-15 minutes, it would be great if the losing team didn't lose LP, but the winning team still gets LP. It's incredibly frustrating to be positive in K/D/A in a 4v5 and still lose LP that we worked so hard for winning a 5v5, but lose LP because it's a 4v5, and I'm really sure we would've won if it was a 5v5 and they never left in the first place.

I think when someone gains LP, someone else has to lose it to make the system balance out... it is really unfortunate for the team with the dc tho.

How screwed up of a ranking system would it be where no one ever loses LP and people only gain LP? You can't gain without someone losing, it just doesn't work that way.

the problem with your suggestion is that people will abuse it. Having an earlier surrender time( like 15 mins if you have an afk) is better IMO because that means you have more time to get in a new game.

I understand what you're saying about the abuse, just like OneMustFall's reply. I see how people can abuse it if they aren't soloing. I like the idea of an earlier surrender if you have an afk or d/c, that sounds very plausible. Also, what if the afk or d/c occurs below 15 minutes, so the win of the game isn't decided at all and if one of them has a afk or d/c and they never reconnect, the losing team can get a pardon and the winning team can get a set amount of LP so it doesn't disrupt the so called "You can't gain without someone losing, it just doesn't work that way" - OneMustFall.
