How do you guys feel about Nidalee?

Right now, it seems like her biggest use is in the jungle due to her entire spear cougar combo. It's pretty great for ganks, no lie. I like jungling with her. But where does that put her as an AP assassin? I mean, I'm only assuming she's an AP assassin based on her entire kit. She doesn't do much damage without AP items, and she's utterly weak, squishy, and barely mobile (when it comes to escaping from a trade) in the early phases of laning. Her damage is weak towards tanks, making her best option to target the squishy damage dealers of which she can barely reach mid/late game with the mess of team fights, requiring a CC to land a spear consistently, and supports/tanks covering up the battlefield. Her utility got nerfed (vision granted on trap) so she can't even provide much use outside of fights. Her strengths use to be that she was the best poke champ in the game, but her spear doesn't even scale past 1 AP/dmg at max range anymore. What made her so useful and strong in her earlier versions was that her spears were able to punish bad positioning and reactions for really good damage, and that was basically her only source of damage unless she had an opportunity to have her face in a fight. Now she DEPENDS on having her face in the fight with a lower amount of reward for her poke. This would be fine if she had consistency in being able to HAVE THE OPTION to go all in, but it requires the landing of the thinnest projectile in the game (while being slow compared to the average) or using a trap that takes a decently short amount of time to even activate. She lacks complete consistency to output her kit properly in an intense battle situation. Which, again, would be fine if she didn't already lack consistency to being useful outside of team fights. Her strength is completely dependent on things that she hardly ever has options to go for.

I'm not going to lie, I miss old Nidalee like no other. She use to be my main, and I'd build her like 5 different ways because she was versatile in what she could do. But they limited her to one option (of which I admit can be really fun and cool), but I can't even make much use of it. I'm sure a great player can make better use of her than I could, but when compared to other champions, she's too dependent on reading movements and CC's that she can't even make herself without going an AD build or already landing a spell with her rylais (defeating the purpose of making her options available). Players at a higher level have the ability to avoid positioning into such vulnerable spots to be a victim of Nidalee's kit.

My suggestion is to make her trap activate upon the usage of it. Her traps are already too weak in literally all situations except cheesy level 1/2 jungle situations. You've already nerfed the utility of the ability, so make it relevant to her kit in more situations. It's like a fetus-level teemo shroom.

Thanks for reading. I hope I provided some good insight.

Her traps need to be useful outside of rooting monsters. Making them invisible after arming unless the other team sees them before that or via true sight and remaining visible once spotted would be a good start.

Nidalee's received constant nerfs that seem to have no direction to them. The balance team member that's been in charge of her needs to get their head out of their ass. It seems like they've been trying to hit everything except her core problems and now that they finally hit every non core part of her kit they are starting to cut into the core. Why did they remove traps utility and hp shred? reduce Javelin damage? Nerf AD Nidalee and all her base stats(AD, AS, AS per level, HP, HP per level)?

The one thing all of these have in common is that they were aimed at reducing her early power. Currently Nidalee is a early to mid game champion. She doesn't carry over late game as well due to her durability and mobility issues later. She fast and does a lot of damage early on but it tapers off as the game goes on.

Now what provides all that early damage and pressure be it AD, AP, or jungle w/e Nidalee? Hunt! Why? Hunt gives her impressive amounts of extra damage against enemies. What does hunt also do? Increases her jungle clear speed. Hunt was and still is her core problem and it's the one truly new thing in her kit since the rework and it's the only thing Riot hasn't touched. Coincidence? Hell no.

If they actually took their balancing approach towards hunt things might actually look good and balanced for Nidalee but instead we're stuck with the disparity of Feast or famine and perpetual imbalance because she'll either be extremely weak or extremely strong the way she is currently balance.

My suggestion would be to revert all previous nerfs and start working on her passive. Reduce takedown max damage from 250% to 200% and have it scale harder off hunt late game but have hunt ramp up in bonuses given based on level so it's weaker early game and stronger late game. 10% to 50% boost based on level rather than 33% at all levels would work out much better and with the reduction in takedown it would still be lower than current 333% max at 300% max

Javelin Toss is key to even starting one of Nidalee's combos and with the damage being reduced some reliability should be added to it like increasing the projectile speed so it can't be last second dodged by stepping aside. This is by far the easiest skillshot in the game to dodge due to it's size and speed. 40 projectile width. The next smallest projectile is 100 width(Ezreals Q for instance). Morgana Q is 120 units wide and Javelin Toss used to be this wide.
