Early game, not even close as he gets rekt by pretty much every other top laner.

Tryndamere. AD reduction, slow, damaging mobility, passive crit chance, AD steroid, heal, and unkillable for 5 seconds.

Depends on what stage of the game. Nasus will beat everyone with enough stacks, Pantheon and lee can win duels at all stages of the game, ect.

• Entire damage combo is on a max 8 second CD. Most are closer to ~60
• His Leap Strike is one of the lowest CD mobility skills in the game at 6 seconds. Most are in the ~15 second range.
• Jax can build whatever he wants and make it work. Most champions can't. As such - Jax can heavily counter-build foes and is incredibly resilient against them.
• Jax's 70+50% AD/AP armor/MR along with 25% AoE reduction gives him a really solid shot at surviving all QWER bursts, forcing an auto-attack battle.
• Jax takes a massive dump on auto-attackers with his 100% dodge chance.
• Jax's 8 second CD dodge-chance is near Trynd/Poppy/Kayle levels in power and only has an 8 second CD.

Anyways - due to the 8 second CD wombo-combo and his resilience, will pretty much guarantee Jax will win a lot of 1v1 fights. You are talking late-game here, so it's fairly safe to assume both champions might have one of those. Most champions that could beat Jax late just rely to heavily on ~90 second CD ultimates to do so.

Jax. Hands down. He counters most auto-attack champs by default. He builds a ton of sustain. He usually builds BotRK for tank shredding. He thrives in prolonged duels due to his passive. He has a decent jump/escape. He does a ton of mixed damage to make building against him difficult. He gets free tank stats from his ult and if he's a jungler, he's abusing the devourer cheese HARD. Not many champs can 1v1 a well-built Jax... and the few who do are usually mages or ranged champs who kite him. If he gets on them, they're dead.

Depends on your opponent. No one champion can outduel all others, you have to take into account builds and stuns as well.

The King of the Top Lane is not to be underestimated. He might not be the best, but he's a lot better than people think.
