Constructive Fiora Discussion

GOHSnail··2 votes·918 views

My qualifications: I'm a Fiora main for 3 seasons; 700+ games; ~60% winrate S3 & S4; diamond S4. http://www.lolking.net/summoner/na/21021969#ranked-stats

My problem: I'd really like to hear thoughts on effective Fiora strategies and builds at a plat (and higher) level. I've been trying her rework out, and I like a lot of the ideas in her new kit, but I'm finding scarce results. Tried recommended build, old Fiora builds, tanky ones, etc. No success. Some of this is normal, new-to-a-champ feeding. Mostly, it feels like I don't know how to get the most out of her. So, I'm curious to hear ideas on how to do that! Please, no BS like "rework is shit, find another champ." Let's be constructive and help each other out, figuring out how to play the rework well.

tl;dr: how to play new Fiora at a high level, even I'm confused.

*Updates: Having better luck with BotRK, Triforce, offtanking (Randuins + Spirit's Visage). Midgame, sheen procs + Q + passive proc = skirmishing much much more effective.

From what I've seen always build BOTRK on her cause of the slow and then get like BC + Youmuu's/TF. You should then build tank items on her. The idea is to make sure you can get your ult off and then tank damage for your team in team fights. I think if you build towards those goals, you tend to do well.

While she doesn't synergies that awesomely with Hydra because of ult is changed, but would this not help her wave clear?

I'm conflicted on the hydra, because my waveclear is bad without it, but mostly you're wanting to "duel"/skirmish people now, so it's main use as either splash or burst doesn't come into play as much. So it's hard to justify a slot for that reason.

the games I played with her rework without hydra, compared to with hydra, were pretty sucky. The difference in wave clear is TREMENDOUS. You need lifesteal, too. And it's still pretty great overall.

I think she's kinda all about AA resetting to burst people now. Q > AA > E >> AA > Hydra > AA... really nasty burst, and it's a lot faster than it sounds from just reading it. If you can lead with an AA before Q, even better. Not having the hydra active just makes her feel way too slow, too much downtime between AAs after your first use of Q and E.

I don't Rank a lot anymore so won't pretend to be an expert or anything but a Sheen proc is something of a priority now a days. I used to use them in pre-rework Fiora builds too after getting core items. now a sheen based item seems to be higher priority to me. I'm 50/50 between TF and IBG but it changes with what I'm doing for the team.

found myself switching between two formats so far

item 3074 item 3025 item 3071 Alternativelyitem 3091 item 3078 item 3031 item 3153

The former 'core' I build for a bit more team-fight potential and the latter I more rarely build if i get ahead to keep the snowball going though like most people (I'm guessing) i end up building something tanky somewhere in there just for the survivability. Sometimes i mix and match depending on the scenario. Call me crazy but I don't always just use what the pro guides tell me too ^^ experimentation doesn't always mean winning but it does mean learning. There's a lot of champions that have unused versatility that tends to get undermined by that certain group of people who can only go by whats on a website. Fiora has consistently been one of them.

I'm also finding more room for item 3172 towards my endgame, its far from perfect but it does make the CC feel alittle less opressive while still providing DPS. Boots wise item 1330 or item 1305 seems to be fine choices. Some CDR really is much more helpful now than it was in the past so I've been leaning slightly more that direction.

That's just my two cents as someone who likes playing Fiora. I'll probably change my tune in a week or two after getting more play time with her but those items feel acceptable to me as of right now.

She needs waveclear, but Hydra is such bad item for her - BT and BORK look better, but you can't farm them fast enough without waveclear... Triforce is great; IE is too expensive and you will just get kited and blown when they see you have invested so much gold in no defense (you can get 2 tanky items for 3800); Cleaver looks cool for the CDR; She has awesome attack animation - very smooth, too bad that there is no raw AD + AS item for your scalings, BORK with just 25 AD is bad for AD casters.

I have also been trying to figure out a way to make her work. Her build path is extremely difficult to figure out at the moment. Her base damages are absolutely horrendous on her abilities compared with the fact that her CC and Heal are very unreliable makes for building full tank not an option. She has decent AD scalings on her Q and Ult and passive so buildling AD seems to be the way to go. The E makes me think you dont want crit, and the True Damage on passive and ult make me think you dont want to stack armor pen. So you stack Full AD? However if you stack full ad you are to squishy to actually get off any damage as W just roots you in place making it so while you are being defenesive for .75 of a second your also not dealing any damage and the stun is extremely unreliable on it in team fights. I think CDR is really good on her, She has major issues with gap closing due to your Q literally moving you less than a Riven E on a relatively high cooldown for the amount it moves you, Putting that on a lower cool down seems to be pretty vital atm. Triforce seems decent but i dont feel like attack speed is the greatest stat for her as you have E to give you an attack speed buff and reset your auto attack and you want to be using Q and procing your passive which doesnt benefit from attack speed, so idk Blood Thirster seems really good, Black Cleaver doesnt seem to bad, I havnt tried blade but using the active seems to be usefull in procing ult and passive. Frozen Mallet seems like it would be decent, i like Maw. So maybe like Triforce or Balde, Black Cleaver, Maw, Frozen Mallet? If you dont build tanky you cant get your damage off you dont have enough mobiltiy to quickly proc your ult and passive, however if you dont build damage and get tanky you will literally do no damage and, your heal scales off Ad so if you dont build AD your heal will have like no effect in a team fight. Soooo UHG idk lol Im not sure if you want to be trying to stick on the carries, or trying to kill the tanks, the percent health true damage makes you good at killing tanks but your not tanky enough to fight in the front line of a team fight you will just get wrecked by the carries but if Try and go on carries you will get kited because you only have 1 movement ability that moves you like knowhwere and if you dont hit them with it because your to far away the cool down is over doubled. And trying to proc your ult on a ranged carry thats kiting you is literally impossible. So i feel like we need to decide first on what our goals with fiora are in a team fight or the game in general and then try to build to make that work. So like to help stick on carries maybe like Blade and Frozen Mallet, To help go through the tanks maybe a more tanky armor pen focused build. To focus on 1 v 1 split push top, i dont feel her 1 v 1 potatental is very good at all though becasue she takes to long to get her damage off compared to other top laners. She relies in lane small skirmishes that in later game Split pushing wont apply but maybe items that help her 1 v1.
