"scripting"

I recently played a game as Katarina and multiple times someone told me that I was "scripting" and then the person said I was reported for scripting. Can someone tell me what this is?

A compliment. :-)

You don't need to know, it's cheating anyway.

Scripting is just botting the game, make an AI to play for you (not entirely but you get the idea), simple as that.

Scripting is when you have essentially a bot playing on your profile. They react to certain different situations in certain patterns, i.e. scripted responses. People will have bots run matches to get accounts leveled or to grind for IP when they aren't around, whether for personal gain in game by IP farming or by selling accounts that they've gotten up to level 30.

You can tell when someone is using a bot to play as themselves because they won't respond in chat usually, won't ping, basically just won't communicate at all. They're generally going to be more concerned with farming than assisting and you can tell that they aren't human because, for instance, a scripted Rengar will sit at double golems when their bottom lane is getting dived at the turret on the other side of the wall instead of ganking like a human player would.

They're essentially there to look like they're active, but they don't much care whether they win or lose because the name of the game is leveling or IP gain, both of which can be done whether you're winning or losing a match, albeit slower. But getting it slow while you're asleep or at work and can't play is preferable to not getting it at all, so people will take the easy way out.

you should say something or they are insulting you by implying "you are playing so poorly that it is as if you are a bot" tho saying something wouldnt really help but you are now less "bot-like"
