runes and their limit

I recently encountered hitting the rune limit and think its unfair that there is no mention of a limit until you've reached it. I was buying all the runes at all tiers to have a complete collection of all the runes. The limit ,as it turns out, is only 720 runes and 684 runes exist in tier 3 alone making it impossible for someone to do what i was trying to do. There should be some sort of warning or message telling you that 1. There IS a rune limit, and 2. you CAN'T sell back your runes.

unfortunately the rune combiner has been scrapped quite a few patches ago. AS it stands there is exactly 0 means to remove a rune and no indication whatsoever that there is even a limit one can reach.
