Something about shields and lasers...

How come Projectile Shields like Braum's Unbreakable or Yasuo's Wind Wall get bypassed by laser beam attacks like Lux's Final Spark or Lucian's Piercing Light etc, but they still somehow block Viktor's Death Ray?

I know it has got to do with how the Death Ray is launched as a linear "cutting" skillshot vaguely similar to Vel'Koz's Void Rift or something... But the fact that the laser-type abilities that I mentioned could bypass full shields like those and Viktor's Death Ray couldn't does not make much logical sense to me. Maybe it's just me, but it does happen at times.
