Blood Moon Yasuo - Wind Wall: nearly invisible or nearly unmissable?

Let me preface this with this: I am not color blind, but I am probably more oblivious than your average League player.

And knowingly being more oblivious than your average player, I tend to assume that my problems are usually of my own creation; however in this case I think my inability to see something is more the fault of Riot than myself.

I have a terribly hard time seeing Yasuo's 'Wind Wall' ability when he is using the Blood Moon skin. When I first saw the skin I was actually pretty stoked because the red particle would contrast against the overwhelmingly green tint of Summoner's Rift, but seeing them in game the reality fell super short of the expectation.

For reference, some Blood Moon 'Wind Wall' vs the Regular: http://www.newsoflegends.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/02/Blood-Moon-Yasuo-W-11-1024x640.jpg https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-llvZCk14Vwg/Vs0pm9qMgWI/AAAAAAAALmQ/HOGEjzSLhHw/s640/yasuow.jpg http://lkimg.zamimg.com/shared/guides/221017/images/Yasuo%20W%20Ability%201.png

Why is the Blood Moon version so transparent?

It's so insubstantial it might as well be a 5 AD buff to Warrior.

The clarity of the Wind Wall is reducing the clarity of gameplay for me.

It might as well be called a Wind Window. Wind-O. Window?

Toughts? Puns? Memes?

The unseen wind wall is the deadliest.

you should see the indicator for when his 3rd q is ready. it's even harder to see than this. kind of hope they make it more visible.

I think their intent was that the wall itself is fainter, but it has much more pronounced indicator on the ground. But it is just too much of a shift, anybody who played against Yasuo instinctively looks for big wall, and not a zigzag on the ground.

this probably has to do with the human eye's ability to perceive red and blue

we see more blue than red and thus, even though the sky is a rainbow of colors, by our angle from the sun we actually receive enough blue to perceive it as only blue until the peak hours of dusk and dawn

Yeah it's quite a bit more transparent

Not too surprised though, visual clarity has gone down the shytter with Riot's more recent skins.

I wouldn't be surprised if they started releasing skins like 'Ashe Sivir' where it's just Sivir dressed up as Ashe.

I mean the whole point is probably more for aesthetics, and they specifically put the thing at the bottom/on the ground so it's easy to see when it's up while still keeping the beauty aspect of it.

Got the same problem with Underworlds Twisted Fate cards [Q].

And some total a-hole even downvoted me.

Guy Fox Teemo3/14/2016, 9:04:11 PM2 votes

thats why theres a line at the bottom of the wall.

Evewynn3/14/2016, 6:39:44 PM2 votes

Thankfully, you can still easily see the blue indicator on the ground, even if the wall itself is a bit more difficult to see relative to the normal skin.

Its so annoying and feels so bs when he just windwalls when your Jhin. Its so fast that if he has it up he can block any ult or ability. But I agree with ur post 2.

upvoted for windo

The recent blood moon skins all kind of have broken particles, look at Kennen, his ult is on the same level of this

venomous frost3/14/2016, 1:28:45 PM1 votes

you should try seeing kennen's E with blood moon skin, that's like a flying light particle

As a 200k+ mastery yasuo player. i agree it's pretty transparent and I think the whole color scheme should be a darker red than it is.

Edit: another thing that might be taking clarity away from you. There's a trick yasuo can do where he cancels the animation of his Q by immediately following up with windwall. This works like Riven's E-Q and can be very deceptive and hard to read if you're not aware of it.

Lord Acacius3/14/2016, 2:53:57 PM1 votes

It's probably because if it were any darker, you wouldn't be able to see anything behind it... for instance, the red yasuo.

ImmortalBloodCY3/14/2016, 5:52:51 PM1 votes

I can see it clear as a day.

I mean... Red lines in a line on a green map?... clear as a day.

Skins = skills, wait for it.

hhaavviikk3/14/2016, 6:40:32 PM1 votes

atleast not as bad as star guardian lux's E

VladTheMage3/14/2016, 8:19:03 PM1 votes

To be honest,I feel like Blood Moon is quite poorly made at particles and graphics. Can barely see 3rd Q and Wind Wall. Also a solution would be a darker red

Augusta3/14/2016, 8:51:47 PM1 votes

i would say the indicator for when he used his sweeping blade on an enemy is hard to see.

invisiblecat13/14/2016, 10:26:03 PM1 votes

It also looks smaller than it actually blocks, as you can probably tell from in game, it will block things that didn't even hit the wall

Hatless Casual3/15/2016, 2:03:23 AM1 votes

Zil has the same issue with the Blood Moon skin when he ults someone, it's almost impossible to see.
