do you guys think sett is "op"?

just a general thought, everyone on boards thinks every champion in the game is broken though and no ones opinion on here is valid, but i think sett isnt very strong, he should get number tweaking though (his shield)

sett has no gap closers, no soft cc to help slow you, although he does have a movement speed increase its very subtle you can literally just beat him by picking a ranged top or being a ranged champ and kite him

is he broken?

very easy to kite

CC him and he is dead

He can Die in his Ult before the slam

considering how every champ released in season 8 and 9 has at least 200 dashes and 30 forms of cc, i think a champ with a simple movement speed up is having a hard time.

'Broken'? in a way, yes...though more a epitome of something that is broken in the game overall.

'OP'? Not at all from my PBE experiences, quite easy to kit.

Now the thing that is broken is the amount of tank hate he has in his kit, it's basically the peak of riots 'we don't do tank' design philosophie. High %hp damage on his spamable Q, which on it's own is fine cause as a juggernaut with no hyper steroid and low target acces, he needs to be a threat to those he reaches somehow. Even the truedamage nuke on the W is fine, it's avoidable and it requires him to take damage first in order to do any meaninfull damage. Though i'm certainly not a fan of %hp damage and truedamage in the same kit, leaves little option to built tankiness against him However, what really is broken is his ult. 60% bonus HP of the target as aoe damage. This creates such a massive difference in damage depending on whom he faces. His ult vs squishys has poor damage, but slam a regular frontliner like darius into them and it's 1500+ damage. Now add an hp stacking champ like cho or sion and his ult can just oneshot any backline. and i'm not even exxegerateing. I litterally killed an ashe 100-0 by slaming her cho into her, just that 1 R and nothing else. This means that choosing a beefy champ if sett is open is basically helping the enemie team. If you built hp vs him, he benefits more from that than you and that's just a horrible design. He can't do shit vs the likes of fiora or riven, but if you play a tank, you might as well stay in fountain cause jpining a teamfight helps him more than your team.

He is definitely a little too strong. The design is good, numbers are overtuned. I guess people forget his ult is also a gap closer?

rofl thread necro, but honestly this thread hasn't aged well.

"most balanced champ on release" my ass lol. 56% win rate at the #1 jungle spot. Shit has no counterplay if you're melee.

Asherenyx12/14/2019, 1:02:32 PM2 votes

Good into tanks, half decent into most else as he is now. A bruiser that actually scales to keep up with the tank, but not too much with mages or other bruisers in the sense of split pushing or posing a marginal threat to ranged carries over most other picks.

Although he has a short engage, which might salvage something, it isn't an ideal picture and would be best suited as good into certain compositions and shouldn't be relied on in others.

His shield needs a huge nerf, but not really his damage. Sett's problem is that a brusier or tank cannot 1v1 against him w/o a serious outplay. He can be kited - sometimes, but if he uses his shield well, that doesn't work much either. Quit frankly, the range on his skills is a bit much too long to kite him well. His longest skill should be no greater than Cho's silence or else telegraphed like Cho's rupture and plus Sett's AoE is too big. It's pretty sad that he's even a lower skill lvl champ than Cho, yet does more for the team.

His win rate says it all.

Pyrosan12/14/2019, 10:58:00 AM1 votes

he doesn't have anyway of keeping up with enemies once he's engaged and everything in this meta is about being able to peel yourself away or keeping yourself engaged

he's most comparable to volibear except volibear's q gives movement speed all around sett's is only towards enemies

he'll def need some additional effects added onto his kit, stats wont help him enough i can't think of any good matchups for him except maybe other immobile melees but they're usually absurdly strong in the 1 v 1

The fucking 50% sheild is the problem!!!!!!!!! Why is a sheild and true damage in the SAME ability!!!!!!!! Its nuts and unfair that sett can win for being on low health. He is rewarded for being shit.

No? If anything he is weak

DuskDaUmbreon12/14/2019, 12:04:26 PM1 votes

Is he even on PBE yet?

Revech12/14/2019, 12:48:30 PM1 votes

Insufficient data. Give it some time for analytics to come through in pick rate and win rate to tell if he's op or not. Everything at this point is just speculation.

Keiaga12/14/2019, 7:44:25 PM1 votes

He's been out for like a day. On PBE. Unless something about him is completely and obviously unbalanced, he probably needs more than a few hours for people to tell.

Have been called a "cheater" playing as sett. Still though..... Not broken! If you are new at countering him, Especially in team fights....you are a dead champ. I have 1v4 before several times, then they just come back for more in frustration. If i play sett and I am up against some ranged magic...I have no chance.

There are other champs that are much more overpowered when played right.

People hate loosing and I hope they never nerf Sett.
