It works by reading one of the hundreds of threads that already asked and answered this question in full fucking detail.

Only get a chest if it is the first S on a champ you own. You can only get 1 chest per champ per season.

Grading takes into account kda, kill participation, wards placed, wards cleared, objectives helped with, damage dealt etc. in comparison to everyone else who played the same champ in the same role.

Woah, thats really helpful. I dont usually place many wards, im always the last to die but i knew it grades you on the avg, with that champ on other players.

And, first S on veigar still no chest :(

Did you have a chest available to get?

Well go do 2 things.

  1. Go to you profile page in the LoL client. At the top right there should be a list of 4 boxes above the time before your next win of the day. Each week one of these boxes will turn golden, meaning you can gain a chest. You can store up to 4 chests if you don't earn an S on a new champ for 4 weeks in a row. You can only get chests if there are ones stored up.

ex. http://i.imgur.com/yevzpge.png?nodirect This shows someone with 1 chest available.

  1. Go to your list of champions. Find Veigar. If there is a golden box around his image then you have already earned a chest on him and can't earn a new one until next season.

ex. http://i.imgur.com/D8ksbJe.png?nodirect The golden borders show what champions chests have been earned for.

If you are still confused about anything try reading the LoL article on hextech crafting here: http://na.leagueoflegends.com/en/site/2016-season-update/champion-mastery.html

it works on what is important to win games

I Agree, does kill participation mean assists or what?

Kills and assists combined. You want roughly 65% or higher.

CS do play a major role. 400 cs and no kills or deaths ur looking at A?

Also true but you were asking a question that I simply answered. Each role is expected a certain amount of cs. Support gets away with 20+ while lane roles are expected to get hundreds by the end of a game.

What one exactly are you confused by? They look pretty reasonable to me.

Not sure what you are trying to show with that screen shot that you think is wrong. Grades all look about where they should be based on those numbers. 1 game 27 kills carried to the S, second game 14 deaths = too many for a decent grade combined with low cs for a near 50 minute game. 3rd game good amount of kills and great cs gets you an S, 4th game 138 cs in a 31 minute game is too low for an S unless you had a bunch more kills. 5th game low cs, low KDA = low grade and finally last game low kills low cs again = no S.
