So now I get punished by LB because I have a newborn?

Leavebuster is a joke. And needs to be seriously looked at.

My wife and I had a beautiful baby boy on the 19th of January. He now has colic (it makes them VERY irritable with gas and stomach pains) and this make's it both harder on us. We actually watch Lucas in shifts so both of us can get at least 5 or 6 hours of restful sleep. I'm a gamer by heart, and when it's my turn to watch him I like to play some League. He has to be fed (no pun intended) every 3 hours, changed, and sits in a rock n play next to my desk. We all know that there is no way I'm going to be able to play a full league of legends game without devoting some attention to him because of his crying, irritability and, well, just flat out being a baby.

So I've completely stayed out of ranked games, and even normal drafts/blinds. I've played Co-OPs just because I know that I might have to take my hands off the keyboard for a couple minutes every now and then. My last game, went 4/0/6 or something? Had to feed him while sitting at the desk. Took two warnings and keep clicking around in my base while team went 36 vs 2? Maybe? I mean it's a bot game.

Now I'm sitting at a 5 minute penalty. I mean seriously? I'm getting punished by League of Legends because I have a baby now? Should I just sell my account and be done with the game since I can't play now?

If you have a colic baby, you shouldn't be queueing into games.

If you can't stick around for a full game, don't play.

So 4 others have to be punished because you have a baby and queue up anyway? It's a team game, the others can depend on you or not and if it's too often not then League of Legends isn't the game you should be playing.

He said he was playing Co-op vs A.Is

Not to sound like a jerk, but maybe, yeah.

Having a kid means you have a full time job as a parent now, and as lifelong gamer and game maker, I know how hard it can be to balance things in life, but if your child needs attention so often then maybe it's a good idea to let the game rest for a while, and let's be honest: your kid deserves to have your full attention anyway.

I had more things to say, but we'll leave it at that.

I don't mean to come across like an ass, so, apologies in advance if I do.

This is sort of the problem right here. You know you don't have time nor attention to dedicate to a match but you play it anyway. Then you're surprised and upset when you're punished by a system designed to prevent exactly the sort of thing you're doing.

So I've completely stayed out of ranked games, and even normal drafts/blinds. This is a good, responsible step, but it's not the whole thing. As a co-op player myself, I can confirm we get annoyed (just not ragey) when someone goes AFK for a long stretch of time. If you're out for 10 minutes in the average 20-minute co-op match, that's half the match you didn't play!

Now I'm sitting at a 5 minute penalty. I mean seriously? I'm getting punished by League of Legends because I have a baby now? Should I just sell my account and be done with the game since I can't play now?

You're getting punished by an impartial system doing exactly what it was designed to do. I've had a friend get nailed by LeaverBuster for having a bad internet connection, but I didn't argue that either - If he's dropping every five minutes odds are he should resolve the issue before playing. Look at it from the other players' points of view - I wouldn't want to play with a guy dropping every few minutes any more than I'd want to play with a guy who has to randomly AFK for several minutes every match. It's frustrating.

My best advice would be to try to make sure the baby is settled in before firing up a match so you have the lowest chance of getting interrupted. It's not perfect, but you have a baby and babies need a lot of love and attention. I wish you the best both with your new son and with your League matches.

I am a mother and i have a kid, when i know i cannot complete a game i do not enter, i have always learned that Family is greater then a game, if this game is important when you have a newborn you should reevaluate yourself i played an online multiplayer game when my daughter was born and yet i got up and walked away when there was an issue

Dude.

I have a baby also, he's 8 months old now. I didn't even consider playing League for the first 3 months unless my wife and her sisters or mom were actively watching him.

I've been gaming my whole life too, you have to adjust your games. Hearthstone on an Ipad was great for this. Set it down on the table, walk around with the baby and stop by every minute for your turn.

Don't even consider being able to play League for a few months and after that only if he just went down for a nap. At around 6 months if you have a happy enough baby you can set him up on play mat or carpet with some toys with Mickey Mouse Clubhouse on, just make sure to look at him every couple of minutes.

Because future leaverbusted guys would also use the same excuse as yours? I don't think League would want to tolerate such excuses like that, so they had to do what they had to do. During the Ascension game, I had my Jax left game because "his wife is giving birth".

If you think your newborn really means to you a lot, you should know what you should be sacrificing while getting to that point. Not everything here is perfect.

you have a baby that needs your attention... and you are complaining about a video game?

again

YOU HAVE A BABY THAT NEEDS YOUR ATTENTION.

you, the adult

you have a child..

do you not understand that you have a child that needs your attention?

bro, you have a kid that needs his mother and fathers care.

STOP complaining about video games... you have a child, help your child. srsly i dont see how he has a question about this. this is a game. who cares.... idc if he got a 200 year ban.... it doesnt matter. take care of your child and dont worry about a video game. dont play league, i dont want you to play league, i doubt riot even wants your money. take care of your child.

I feel for you; that's rough. But others have had the correct sentiment. If you know you can't devote your full attention, then play customs alone. It isn't right to force other people to play with an afk, regardless of the reason.

Especially since you know, in advance, that you will have to afk, you shouldn't queue up with others. Sorry, man. It sounds like you are gonna be a great dad, and best of luck with your kid. You have the luxury of not taking the game too seriously, because it's a meaningless distraction for you. That's a good thing. But you also have to remember that other people may not see it that way.

Personally I wouldn't mind someone disconnecting from a co-op game, it's less quick when it's a 4v5 anyway and I find people always end them too quickly. So I really don't think punishment for leaving bot games should even exist.

I must have missed the checkbox before clicking Play that says, "I may have go AFK as I have a newborn baby that needs attention." Was that in the last patch? Is there an option to enable / disable it? Seems OP to me.

Priorities, man. You're potentially ruining a game for others who have to cover for you. The fact that you're doing Co-op games doesn't change that fact. Yes, the AI will adjust for the amount of players, but that doesn't make it alright. Take a break, look after the baby and maybe play again when you do have time to dedicate to a game of any kind.

Stop babying this man child. Listen, its time to grow up man. Uninstall league and any other multiplayer game that you own, because you can no longer play them. Your online multiplayer days are over. Re-evaluate your life and realize you have responsibilities other than your day job. Be mad, be upset, whatever: but that kid is your life now, start acting like it.

Personally, I'd say stay away the game if you can't sit through it all. But i agree with the fact that people should NOT be penalized from AFK/DC from AI games. People might be testing connections knowingly that they might DC.

Unbelievable. If I had a newborn I would be dedicating my full time and attention to my child.

What kind of attitude is this garbage?
