I've hardly ever have touched the champion, but playing against it way back when was incredibly annoying. That being said, that was mostly due to spears being invisible and the projectile being a bit faster I think. Also Nidalee's pounce movement was kind of ridiculous at points.
Maybe it's just the old player in me, but it feels wrong to just remove a champion from their original lane altogether. Despite how massive reworks tend to be nowadays, usually champions are able to be played in the lane and role they typically used to be in. Even Aatrox, a champion that was more akin to Yasuo or Fiora in playstyle in his previous iteration still finds a home top lane, despite his playstyle being much more like Riven's.
With the release of Zoe, it stands to reason that there should be a way to bring Nidalee back into mid lane without making her too unhealthy to play against. I believe the post here mentions that at one point, Nidalee had 50% winrates in top, mid, and jungle post rework, meaning that at the very least, Nidalee was playable in her intended role.
However, it seems like she was shoved into the jungle similarly like Graves and Taliyah, isolating avid Nidalee players. Since we're pretty much on the revert train with champions like Leblanc, Rengar, and even the upcoming Zac ult revert, it stands to reason that perhaps Riot could move power around in her "power budget" to allow her to lane again.
That being said, a full-on revert is not to be expected, nor is what some of these older players want. I don't think anybody wants to really isolate other players and remove Nidalee from the jungle entirely. I think most people would be fine with having Nidalee even being strongest in the jungle, so long as she is playable in lane. As of current, I think that's incredibly difficult to do, seeing as a lot of the tools she had to survive lane were heavily nerfed due to abuse in the jungle, if I'm not mistaken.
All that being said, I'm by no means a Nidalee player and I wouldn't be surprised if I got something wrong here or there. It just kind of bums me out sometimes that Riot sometimes alienates portions of their player base with their changes.
