350 mana crystal + 125 mana regen thingy-> chalice vs ap, tear vs ad. It's viable xD

additionally it's viable up through gold xD..... just gotta watch out for those ganks with a pink and warding.

But the bigger question is, why bother? It may be viable, but it's not good, and what's the point of having a 2nd Support when team-fights come? The other traditional supports that are actually played Mid all have some reliable damage that scales well with AP and do benefit a lot from having more gold, such as Lulu, Karma, or Morgana. But why bother playing Soraka?

DeathBurst1 votesBut it's not her DAMAGE ratios. And she can get her heals just as strong by spending less gold if she goes support and buy the various Idol items. She doesn't need AP to get strong heals.
Meanwhile, she get a combined .7 AP ratio on all her damage spells. Which are unreliable anyway, 'cause they are a pretty slow skill-shot and a delayed proc AoE.
RogueWill1 votesNo, it doesn't scale nearly as well as she does with AP. The idols are bands aid since she doesn't have the income for AP. And not everything is about the damage, soraka ult is a huge heal to every member of your team.
DeathBurst1 votesI'm sorry, but just do the math. How much AP do you get in a Soraka Mid build, typically? 'cause a Soraka Support typically get 30% increased healing + 80 or so AP, not even full build, just with her core items. For her R Lvl11, for instance, that means going from 250 to 380. You'd need 235 AP to get the same result. The Idol items are much more than a band aid. And we didn't even talk about their unique passives yet, that synergize much more with Soraka's kit than mid items.
Also, "not everything's about damage", that's why each role/position is specialized. But if you don't have damage mid, who's going to pick up the slack?
MrHaZeYo1 votesLol it's really not. Laning vs that it easy and it forces you into a Carry jungler or top to make sure you're team can output damage. Even building AP Raka damge just doesn't compare to other mid laners. The other hand I do enjoy playing it mid from time to time, but only with certain teams vs certain laners.
polarbairr1 votesStaff of seraphim, Liandry's, Morelnomicon, Redemption, rabadons sorting hat, boots. The attrition is too much for their midlane to counter, so they end up with way less farm.
MrHaZeYo1 votesStaff requires build up time. Raka lane is already weak as she's relys on two damaging spells. Both of which are skills shots, her E/Silence being a double hit/ easy dogable of the worst proc. Once you get boots it's super easy to dodge her Q.
Again I play mid a lot, a Raka lane would be free and to have the extra super supportize styled mid, you would need to put one in your top or jg. Which still gives you the option to put a tank in one of those spots that will absolutely take 0 damage from AP Raka late game. By playing AP Raka you're relying on basically having two supports on your team meaning you need to build around that, having say a Yi jungle you would prolly be fine.
Like I said it is fun to play, but it's in no way "Viable". To many way's to destroy it.
